In Sabyasachi
We couldn’t stop gushing over the embroidery and the velvet saris Sabyasachi presented in his Winter collection. You know it was going to be a matter of time before we saw Rani wear one and she did at the Anandalok Purashkar in Kolkata where she won an award.
If you find a full-length of her, do pass it on!

as stunning as it is, this saree and blouse seems to have been made for shabana azmi. it is aging rani a bit. LOVE the collection though!
Velvet- P&P- appreciation – never happened! but when it comes to sabya they will accept anything..Love is blind!
LOL! so true! that and sophie chick!! can do no wrong, that girl, in pnp’s eyes!!! :o)
P and P here you go again playing favourites with the designer.Your love for velvets is apparent in umpteen posts when ppl are spotted wearing them. But now Mr Sabyasachi uses velvet and you suddenly can’t stop gushing ! hmmm hmm
recent examples of your thoughts on velvet
1) Ramona Narang in Stella McCartney Bonded Velvet Rosalia Dress
2) Sangeeta Bijlani at Anita Dongre’s Show
3) want more ??
Amen. They did have a huge aversion to velvet, but I am sure Sonam, Sabya, Sabina and the vogue lady can do no wrong. In velvet, in tacky pants, even in a gunnysack, no?
Sigh if you are comparing Sangeetas velvet monstrosity with Sabyas velvet saree, I dont think P&P should take your comment seriously
not just Sangeeta..i just meant everyone wearing velvet
Rani is not wearing a velvet but a balkal (thick silk) saree.
P&P, a few more pictures of Rani are available on Sabyas facebook page… Check them out
I agree with Madhulika. Although the embroidary is similar to the velvet ones we saw on LFW, this particular one is a Balkal 🙂
for a full length pic. check out ABP’s today’s edition.
ABP? Lost…
its Ananda Bazar Patrika.. a leading bengali newspaper… check out dat edition n u’ll find a full length
Quite like the saree. And although the question was not posed to me, I’ll still say that no fabric is taboo. What is the harm in liking the way someone uses it? I too can’t stand velvet but I also come here for P&P’s personal views. If they like Sophie or Sabya, well that is their personal style sensibility, which is what we’re here to enjoy, is it not? I’m surprised when I see this whole ‘partiality’ comment come up time and again. Don’t we also have personal favorites whose styling we admire? If we’re not interested in their personal opinions on it we can just as well view the same pics on some bollywood site.
