In Donna Karan
It’s been a while since we saw Ms. Mukherjee on these pages and while we’re happy to see her out, can’t say the same about her look.
As you can see, the Donna Karan gown was modified to match her height but in chopping off that many inches on the skirt, a lot of the effect the gown had was lost too.
I also dislike that she chose a glittery gold clutch to finish out the look. It clashed with the sequined gown.

Poor rani looks like she’s wrapped in aluminum foil. This look makes her appear short and stout. Bad styling for sure.
Common P&P … let’s not penalize her for her height!!!! It’s good to see non-tall women, non-skinny women, non-fair women carry such outfits with such Γ©lan and confidence π
Couldn’t have said it better.
+1
I don’t think anybody’s penalizing Ms. Mukherjee for her height. The gown is meant for a more statuesque figure, and she, lovely as she is, doesn’t quite check the “tall” box, so it doesn’t work as well on her, is all. I’m sure she would’ve carried off another drape more suited to her body type.
Agree! She could choose height weight appropriate dress instead of something that was made for a tall skinny woman.
She looks so gorgeous neck up. Too bad the outfit is all kinds of wrong.
I wanted to start off by saying ‘Rani beti’ but that seems to annoy some readers, so i will say:
Rani darling, bending certain fashion rules can be edgy but breaking the gold/silver rule is a fashion disaster. If you didn’t have a glittery silver clutch you could have taken a black one or perhaps emerald green? Even a red one i would’ve let you off, but gold?!! no no no dear. Faux Pas
LOL. Kanchanmasi, you are funny. I find myself looking out for your comments just to have a chuckle. Carry on with the auntyji advice, good fun. Rani beti indeed. ha ha ha.
kanchanmasi, you deserve your own blog. You are hilarious and I love it!!!
π you said it right, masi
haha thanks for not using beti π
Kanchanmasi, you are spot on! An emerald clutch would go with her ear rings too!
Rani looks divine. It’s a good thing she shortened the dress, even though it meant she had to lose some of the ‘tail’, else she would be sweeping the floor. Perfect make-up, hair and jewelry too. Yep the clutch could have been different…but it’s not disastrous.
Oh good God. No comments. She looks like an aunty. She should sticks to her sari blouses.
This doesn’t outfit is not for her. I think it somehow ages her. Good effort though.
She looked elegant. I love her earrings! Love you, Rani!
Oh, you’re being hard on her! I’m not a fan of the dress anyway but it doesn’t lose too much being cut short. If all shorter women couldn’t cut here and there we wouldn’t be able to wear anything’
She is looking short and stout but points to here for trying something other than sari( or sabya :P) nice earings
Everything neck up was amazing and those emeralds were so appropriate for this gown. Just wish the hemline was a little longer. Other than that, this gown did exactly what she wanted it to do: accentuate her curves!
Goshhhh!! Shs tryng too hard….
You need a much better toned body to carry off this dress. The shoulder bulge is very unsightly.
she should have tried a different color say black, brown, navy blue.
Sorry not just the height but her body type is not right for the gown.It needs someone tall and slender to carry off that drape gown.
