Oh So Blue

December 21st, 2009 at 4:04 pm . by Payal

Chand bali earrings are becoming a Rani Mukherjee trademark. The actress attended the V. Shantaram Awards wearing another one with blue stones matching her blue sari. Not a fan of the halter orange blouse but oh-my! Want that sari, badly!

Update: Until we confirm ourselves, we aren’t sure what the sari is. Sabya or Anuradha. :)

I love the orange blouse because the sari has a little orange border. YAY for RANI!!!!!!

  2. Amy says:

    My oh my!! Absolutely love!!

  3. hhc-addict says:

Beautiful color – and she looks good too. The one boob draping seems really unnecessary and forced. The make up in the second pic looks very ghostly though.

  4. KT says:

how beautiful she looks in the close up!

  5. _*Dia*_ says:

rani looks absolutely stunning. the color combination is excellent and her eyes are to die for. i think this sari might be a sabya, going from the texture and the border. wish she didnt wear it the- one-boob-way.

  6. megha says:

i loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the sari and the blouse

the blue and orange combination – just drooling right now!!!

  7. s says:

looks lovely!Guest this is her bets appearnce in recent times.Lovely saree. She looks awesome

  8. claire says:

i though about anuradha vakil too. the coloir and the pattern on the sari remind me of what rani wore at the saawariya premiere, but MUCH MUCH better. she looks good, but as always way too much make-up.

  9. vidya says:

WOWWWW! South Indians call this particular shade of blue “MS Blue” as it was the fav colour of the great singer MS Subbulakshmi amma.

  10. crab says:

Oh my God! Gorgeous, gorgeous saree. What’s wrong with the blouse? I love it.

  11. Prem Rogue says:

Stunning! What a gorgeous blue colour! Rani’s looking fabulous. Aishwarya, please take note; *this* is how to wear colour. Please let go of that blingy pastel-hued Manish Malhotra phase. In fact all actresses in B-town should boycott the chap for a while. I cannot get over the gorgeousness of this blue sari. Yeah the halter blouse kind of ruins it but I can live with that. Oh my, gorgeous sari. I want.

  12. SS says:

That is SUCH a gorgeous sari – Rani wears it very well.

  13. probster says:

She’s kickin ass these days….the queen’s looking gorgeous. Fabulous Sari…but I could’ve preferred to see some more of the choli…yeah, halter is Nay..

  14. shriya says:

she hasn’t looked this good in a very long time. love the blue and orange combination. her eyes look fab as well.

  15. kanika says:

I guess the one boob thing is to show off the blouse because these halter blouses have no sleeves so I guess that is the only way they can reveal the pattern/color/design !

  16. Addicted says:

    Gorgeous!!! She looks so beautiful

  17. Sharin says:

Such a nice sari, colour and wow she looks soo pretty!! I love her eyes they are the most beautiful colour :| Kareena Kapoor should take eye makeup tips from Rani’s makeup artist.

  18. charmi says:

    Hello Payal and Others,

Well this sari is definately an anuradha vakil as I just bought mom the same pattern and print in Black :). And knowing Rani has one my Mom isn’t going to be too happy about it heeh :)

  21. Saira says:

This is why I love Rani so much. She can look amazingly gorgeous and she doesn’t even have to try hard. Her makeup is just right. Absolutley j’adore the hint of blue eyeshadow, really makes her eyes pop. Love the earings, love the hair. <3

oh WOW!!! WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! what a lovely sari and how awesome does Rani look in the 2nd pic? she does saris like no one else can – that’s here forte and i wish she’d stick to it instead of trying to show excessive skin to join the brat pack.

  25. RaDs says:

Want Want Want! Stunning saree gorgeous Rani!

  26. nikki says:

The saree is gorgeous and so is Rani, but the print on the saree reminds me of the types my grandma would wear….but the color is soooooo beautiful for words!

Rani looks lovely. Her skin is glowing in this sari. Color suits her so well.

  33. Malavika says:

Woow…. rani looks sooooooooooo amazing!!!!!! Her eyes look amazing too, especially in the close-up. I absolutely LOVE that saree and her earrings….

  34. hobbes says:

Hats off to Anuradha Vakil for staying with what she does best – ethnic wear in vibrant colours. Gorgeous sari – I agree a different blouse would have helped, for me the style does not work, the colour is ok, a cap sleeve normal blouse I think would have been it.

  35. Hans says:

She is awesome…!!!What a sari.!!!Well the blouse is not that bad if u ask me..!!!

  36. SK says:

the whole look is so flawless!
man… this has been a week of great saree drapes!
    lovin it!

  37. Saya says:

Lovely sari. But why does Rani ever give up on this ghostly p-o-p makeup?

  38. annie says:

omg..Rani looks stunning!! Her makeup is perfect and Ilove the blue and orange combination.

  39. jp says:

she looks gorgeous…for once everything is perfect..

  40. funnybone says:

rani cudnt get more flawless than dis!!!!!! love her look!!!!!!

  41. Stuti says:

I need that saree! I won’t be wearing it anywhere, for sure, but I need it. Also, those earrings. That’s probably the first time I am saying that about something Rani is wearing. O.o
She looks stunning, and stunning is just an understatement. Beautiful face this woman has.

  42. Nitasha says:

Rani’s eye make-up is just spot-on every time! Hr make-up artist needs to put up a tutorial on how to get this perfect smoky look. Can anyone get the message across to her? And the colour is just perfect on her!

  43. venus says:

Stunning, beautifil , gorgeous sari…and the blouse is good too. Love the look. Rani’s pleased expression shows that she knows how good she looks :)

  44. mary says:

Am I the only one who thinks the colour is too loud and overwhelming. I don’t know but this particular shade is just screaming out rather than bringing out teh personality of the person wearing it. As always different strokes work for different folks. The makeup is nice though.

  45. NFashionB says:

    OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGggg I am loving it.
I love every thingd in her outfile….blue color, orange blouse, makeup, earrings…and smile.
If they dont do the ‘boob thing-draping’ their blouse-design/print wont be shown ..to public.

Much better than katrina/priyanka,where 1 boob with blouse it out.

  46. pdaervo says:

    WANT WANT WANT WANT

  47. preethi says:

    gorgeous!

  48. sanghamitra says:

soooo perfect !!!! love it love it love it !!!!!

  49. Sparkle says:

    gorgeous saree…she looks great.
I had mistaken the bindi on her forehead for a spot on my screen….but kudos to Rani.

  50. ananya_s says:

    gawwwwdd!!wat is wrong with her dese days??look at that glow!!for the frst time i thnk she’s lookin BEAUTIFUL!!her eyes….oohhh!!ges she’s in love..(wink)!!!!!

  51. R says:

Gorgeous saree! I think the blouse is fine, goes well with the saree and Rani carries it off beautifully!

  52. kish says:

i’m probably the minority here, but the colour does nothing for me. i’d have preferred the sari in another colour, although i love the work on the border and pallu. i’m just not a blue person i guess.
and, as someone said above, the fit of the blouse looks off.
lastly, why does she always have so much make up on? she must be going through a foundation bottle (i can’t think of any other word apart from bottle) a week.

    • Saira says:

I am so irritated by the constant makeup jibes at Rani. As a makeup artist myself, I think her foundation is amazing. If you watch her movies, you will see that 80% of the time, she is in her natural makeup, not overcaked at all. The flashes make her face look pale and overcoloured. If you want bad foundation, and caked on makeup, look no further than Bipasha, Shilpa and Priyanka. Their faces look grey most of the time.

      • SK says:

saira – i have seen Rani in person – her “natural” skin tone is much much darker. But ur right…the make up itself is done well. if i hadnt seen her in person i wudnt be able to say this is her natural colour.

    • umema says:

yes you are the minorty here…and i think she wears less makeup then aishwarya rai the queen and i have never seen anyone criticizing her???and maybe its the lights because of which the makeup looks tooo much…cant you see that her face and body skin looks the same!!

      • kish says:

na i think aishwarya wears too much make up too, and i never said bipasha/ priyanka are natural beauties either.
i’ve just seen rani in person and at the risk of sounding mean, it’s only make up that could make her actually look good.
@umema, in the second pic, you can see the difference in skin tone on the face and her arms.

but then, they are public figures, and social protocol dictates that a lady should wear make up to look good. i’ve seen so many comments on this website commenting that so & so should up the lipgloss, or so & so looks too pale and needs some more make up.
and if they are gonna be photographed and scrutinized subsequently, they would need to hide the blemishes.

        • Saya says:

I agree with Kish. All the b’wood ladies who are dusky seems to have this fetish for foundation which are not anywhere close to their skin tone. I find Rani, Bipasha, Neetu Chandra, Priyanka Chopra and off late Sush all caked up.

        • Saira says:

Kish – You can’t compare someones arm colour to the face. There is usually a difference in skin tone and texture of arms and face, therefore it probably won’t be 100% same.

  53. AnnnMMMM says:

Absolutely love the saree and the blouse….where can I get it???

  54. AnnnMMMM says:

also i just checked her website not updated at all last collection is from 2004!

  55. shruti says:

Love the sari, rani looks beautiful. The bouse would have looked much better without any work on it.
Not abig fan of those earing. smaller earirngs would have looked more elegant & classy.

  56. white says:

THAT SARI IS A SABYASACHI. YOUR SOURCES ARE WRONG!

  57. lazyU says:

Rani has some serious dark circle issues in the pictures we’ve seen her without her makeup so I guess the makeup conceals all of that.. and yes, she doesn’t go grey like some other actresses and that means she isn’t probably fighting her own colour so the flash probably brightens her up..

I actually want to know her raaz because I have the same issue with dark circles and no matter what concealer I use they don’t go away.. *sigh*

    Anyway, that blue is divine!!!

  58. hobbes says:

Anuradha Vakil has her own boutique in Ahmedabad. In Mumbai she is available at Melange on Altamount Road.

  59. shreya says:

The blue is absolutely beautiful but the blouse is ill fitting and the earrings are killing the look for me. I think the saree has much more potential than whats’ here. But all said and done the saree is gorgeous!

  60. noir says:

Rani’s wearing a Sabyasachi, not an Anuradha Vakil

  61. Sharin says:

Now after reading the makeup comments.. I just have to say that I don’t think that she is wearing a lot of makeup..in fact I think other actresses (Kareena in particular) should do their eyes like Rani does, they would look fantastic. Would love to see Lolo in a sexy smokey eye as well. What I do want to know though is, how did they become so much fairer than when they first started out? Priyanka and Rani started out with a much more dusky complexion (espresso) and as of late their complexion looks much milkier (latte coloured lol).

    • Saira says:

See, I don’t think Rani was dusky to begin with.. It was just bad makeup/hair/styling that left that impression. If you watch her early movies “Mehndi” “Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat” and “KKHH” her skin tone is as it is now really.

  62. palak says:

    hey…she luks amazing!!!
indian suits her d best…its simple yet stylish!!

  63. TumHum says:

she looks amazing…love the sari, earrings and even the blouse

  64. Arcchana says:

WOW!!! Rani looks wonderful! love the saree and her bindi and her earring. I think the blouse is nice …but if it wasn’t halter it would be pur-fect

  65. Pinky says:

The title of the post should’ve been Oh So Blue…Oh SO Gorgeous!!!!
    She looks absolutely stunning…

  66. Aliya says:

ofcourse its aSsabyasachi creation……check out the trade mark design black border on the pallu :)
