It is a nice dress but not for Rani. It makes her look like she has saddlebags. Why is she forcing her smile? Rani looks tired with those bags under her eyes.

Ugh she needs to hire a stylist. So DRAB!

I think I like this (for Rani i.e.) it would be an upgrade.

From where is she looking big ???….common girls…..if that is big then what is small??? I think she is kinda looking different and cute…

    1. Sej at | | Reply

Not big but that dress clings to her hips and accentuates them which I don’t think is something she was going for. She looks good to me-just about right but this particular dress just doesn’t help her with her recent attempts to look thin and fit etc.

Bust and upwards, she looks very nice, the best in the recent outings. Only if the rest of the outfit had been a plain dark blue, this dress would have rocked on her. This just makes her look short.

I agree with you guys .. it does make her hips look bigger!
But honestly, how hot does she look with the weight loss?!?!

As I had said earlier… kinda amusing.

you did say that …. and now i see it!! lol :)

      whats so amusing?

I completely agree with P&P. Long stripes are supposed to make you look tall and thin but this has an opposite effect. The dress does not look like a maxi on the mannequin but Rani’s looks like a Maxi. Perhaps if she had worn the shorter version, she would have looked better.

    1. Manasi at | | Reply

I completely agree A shorter version, like the one pictured, would have been perfect.

    2. suchi at | | Reply

yup shorter would have been better

      1. preeths at | | Reply

        yea RIIIIGHT!!!

and had she worn the shorter version, then there would be comments that
        1. she is trying too hard
        2. she should dress her age
        3. why is she dressing like a starlet etc etc

        leave her alone

  9. shonali at | | Reply

poor thing, she tried to be all high end and wear missoni and she ended up looking bad. her face looks good. hope she maintains her new figure.

    Dear Rani

With all my best wishes as a once upon a time fan of yours, PLS PLS do the following ASAP

    1. Go to a nice spa and do something for your puffy tired eyes (like cucumber slices while getting a nice facial
    2. Hire a stylist who will find you the right outfits for your body type and the occassion
    3. Work on building your self confidence, as that seems to be sorely lacking in all the recent pics Ive seen of yours

    1. KK at | | Reply

HAHA!!! Nice letter.. you forgot to sign it ;)
I hope she reads it!! :D I do agree with the confidence thing, especially in the Harpar’s Bazaar photos (with the embellised bra)!!!!

The shorter version of the dress with nice heels would have made her look so much taller and way chic…but alas!

  12. R at | | Reply

I think she looks good. Yes, it is making her look bigger… but well, I’m not used to seeing a thin rani mukherjee… so it’s okay with me.

  13. nbha at | | Reply

Ignoring her waist down, I think Rani looks lovely. Her hair and makeup look sleek, pretty, and put-together.

  14. Hi at | | Reply

Its not that bad. Looks okay. I didn’t like the color scheme.

But that condescending tone ” Guesing like somebody told Rani ” ….is bad guys. We are not better than the Bolywood stars just because we can get a couple of their pictures and comment about them. I love your blog because you stick to talking about the fashion. Why not continue doing the same. Why get into small talk like this ?

Come on guys..she’s lost sooo much weight and is looking good ya. I think she looks quite fresh and young!!

  16. Isha at | | Reply

I like it on Rani, maybe not something fantabulous but she looks very good. Hair and makeup are awesome!

  17. fashion outsider at | | Reply

Come on guys, let’s give Rani some credit for stepping out if her salwar. I actually think the make-up on her is one of the best we’ve seen on her. Her hair is just the same old poker straight Rani hair but the dress is actually cute on her. And I actually happen to think that it’s OK for actress to not be stick thin. So what if her hips look big?

  18. Hema at | | Reply

Had she worn a saree again , it would have been the same old look ! I think people should give her a break . She is really making an effort and experimenting with clothes she wouldn’t wear before . I think she looks cute.

rani looks stunning. dress is not great, but hair and make up and her beautiful features are hard to miss!

She looks great here. Fresh, simple and chic.

  21. HHC Fan at | | Reply

her face looks pale. i want to tell rani to break out of whatever it is that is bothering her. free yourself woman!

  22. Saira at | | Reply

HOT!!!!!!!! So what if it clings to her hips? Rani has lost weight but still maintained her curves. Her eyes do not have bags, they are naturally puffy at the bottom! Makeup is bang on, as is hair. Love love love!

  23. padma at | | Reply

I think she actually looks quite nice, her face looks radiant and the hairstyle is good too. The problem with the dress is the bodice, the top part is too big, i mean its not empire waist truly, if the top part of the dress ended a few inches higher, it wouhave looked nice and maybe a different footwear would have helped, but please she is not looking big by any means. She does look short here.

  24. belle déesse at | | Reply

I think rani looks classy and graceful, agree about the hips tho. However, overall, I like. Especially given her previous appearences

  25. diptiN at | | Reply

I think she looks great, the larger photo is not very flattering since it is taken at close angle. Rani should look at some of Frieda’s photos, when being photographed always stand with one leg in front of the other, it makes one look taller and the hips look smaller.

  26. Anita at | | Reply

I think the vertical lines would have worked, on a shorter dress, grazing the knee. That would have given just enough curves like on the mannequin. A full lenth vertical stripes dress is definitely not the right choice for anyone with any curves.

  27. cooks at | | Reply

I think she looks great too. The dress looks lovely on her too.

  28. Roni at | | Reply

The dress is nice but doesnt work for her because the material is clingy plus her height is an issue.
I think a knee length or shorter version would have rocked on her. People who are short in height should stay away from long dresses.

  29. Maria at | | Reply

The shorter version is decadent, and Rani is glowing.

  30. Priyanka at | | Reply

    boring and not for her

  31. charan at | | Reply

She looks lovely, the dress itself is pretty fgly.

  32. Saira at | | Reply

So what if she looks short? What’s wrong with short girls? They beat tall lanky women anyday.

  33. Antonia at | | Reply

I disagree with people who say that short women can’t wear maxis. I believe that shorties can wear maxis & skirts/dresses which are inches above the knees. Anything in between just doesn’t suit.
It’s heartening to see that most of the comments have been positive ^_^ – & I agree with them – congrats on Rani for experimenting with fashion.
I like this look on Rani – it’s fresh & chic. Keep experimenting & having fun with fashion Rani!!

  34. Pallavi at | | Reply

I think she looks rather nice actually. Though a shorter version of the dress would certainly have made her look slimmer and taller.

Rani has lost oodles of weight at this age (shez in her thirties right?), give her credit for that!!! whats wrong in dressing young and making the most of your weight loss? Im happy seeing her in something other than those matronly salwars. baby steps right (in yr own words) ??

why so many anti-RANI sentiments? many are saying she should have worn the shorter version, had she done that, then the comments would be that she is a wannabe, trying too hard, dressing like a starlet etc etc blah blah and BLAH.

dress is fine, not the best for her body type but neither is it THAT bad to warrant some of the comments here.so one picture is posted (out of 100 others) with rani half-smiling, so everyone goes like.. she doesnt have the confidence, she should free herself, something is bothering her, she is forcing herself… haha WOW!!

    1. PeachBellini at | | Reply

Preeths, it’s okay to have your opinion, but I don’t think there’s any need to criticize other people’s opinions just because they disagree with you. If someone thinks that she should’ve worn the shorter dress, that’s fine. Also, the sentiments are anti-Rani, I don’t think anyone here has a personal vendetta against any star, because frankly, we don’t know them personally.

It’s okay to speak in defense of your own views, but to tell other people that their views are bad, that they don’t have the taste to appreciate something, that they are too critical of the star in the post, all these comments are kind of unnecessary. I’m not saying that you’re at fault in the examples that I gave, but there are others as well on this forum who react to differences in opinions in that manner (I am clearly referring to the recent Hi Blitz post).

Sorry Preeths, just because this comment comes as a reply to you, doesn’t mean that I am trying to single you out or anything. It’s just something that I wanted to say in general.

      1. PeachBellini at | | Reply

        *the sentiments AREN’T anti-Rani

      2. preeths at | | Reply

Okay i get your point reg the Hi Blitz post!

lets just wait for Rani’s appearance in Dus Ka Dum, if it gets posted here, and then we shall see if the claws that come out then are justified :)

    no fair payal and priyanka
why have you closed the comments on the Rani- Hi Blitz post?
was a damn interesting read after ages

  40. Maya at | | Reply

Have to say that a shorter dress on a shorter girl is so predictable the length of this dress and the stripes are not the problem and honestly I dont’t see it clinging anywhere on the hips its different its fresh … its cute. the problem is not rani but the dress… Missoni sometimes gets so predictable they need to do something clever with strips although some accesories would also help this dress.
