Dressed Up, Dressed Down

On most others, the bow-tie would look ridiculous but not on Mr. Khanna, who pulls it off with such ease. Is there anything he looks bad in?

  1. While it is almost bordering total clown look he does pull it off-sorta. Not sure why he had to wear it though. I mean that casual look on the right is fine enough and the bowtie just looks out of place.

  2. I LOVE Rahul Khanna…..the real love, the kind you read about in fairy tales ;)….but even that cannot make me like his dressed down look….shirt tucked in-no belt n that bow tie….neck up though he continues being kiss-worthy ;)

  3. I read a comment on Miss Malini’s blog (in a post that featured the same photo of Rahul in a bow-tie) that calling him a ‘Bollywood actor” would be wrong because he is so above and beyond the label. I assume that the commentor meant in terms of his acting skills and the fact that he almost always acts in sensitive/ off-beat/ art cinema, but it applies to his dressing sense as well.

He is so much better dressed than the rest of Bollywood (with their ridiculous ungroomed facial hair, floral shirts, hairy man cleavage and whatever else) that its hardly fair to class him with the rest of them. This man is the sole reason I have hope in Bollywood men (fashion-wise, that is)

    • bollywood movies rock! no one is above bollywood unless they are gandhi or the dalai lama. have you seen any recent bwood movies? none of the guys are hairy or wear floral shirts. that was last seen in the 80s. they are more likely to wear armani these days and have everything waxed or shaved off even their arm hair, which to me is a little too much grooming! coming back to rahul, he looks fab in the suit and drab in the bow tie.

      • I agree. I do not like the generalization of Bollywood to floral shirts and ridiculous clothes. It was all of that a decade back, but give credit where its due – Bollywood isn’t what it used to be.

Rahul Khanna – delicious as he is, doesn’t pull off the second look.

        • Im not talking about their dress sense in the Bollywood movies, Im talking about their dress sense in real life: just look at all the man cleavage, ill-fitting/ shiny suits, bandanas, floral shirts etc on this site.

And as for clothes in Bollywood movies today, I STILL find them gaudy (although its changing), I mean have you seen what they wear, especially in songs? Totally OTT. Appropriate for a commercial dance number maybe, but definetely not suave or sophisticated.

And as for Bollywood (in general, with a few exceptions), I still find it hackneyed and gaudy and completely propagative of stereotypes (and plenty of critics both Indian and Intl agree with this view), and I also think that the parallel cinema industry in the country is far superior, but then again its a completely personal opinion and obviousl other people will have different opinions

  4. I’m biased because I think he’s sexy, but in my opinion he totally pulls off the casual look (and of course, the suit as well). Like others mentioned, I can’t think of any other Indian actor who could pull it off. He just exudes this calm confidence that makes him look great in anything. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the picture was Robert Downey Jr.’s baby-blue bow tie from the Academy Awards. Both actors seem to have that sexy, understated charm that lets them get away with anything!

  5. I dont find anything interesting in the second, tie and jeans and shoes, the whole look is ridiculous and lousy, it looks like he was in a hurry and whatever came in his hands he wore.

  6. Does this man ever look bad? It’s weird to think that he is in fact Akshaye Khanna’s brother. I agree, there is nothing more perfect than an Indian man rocking the bowtie.
