Double The Ditto!

67

Update: Turns out the gold dress seen on Amrita and PC is a Swapnil Shinde but the knotted dress spotted on Rani and PC is Not. It’s Manish Malhotra.

We don’t watch ‘The Perfect Bride’ which is probably why we missed that Amrita (reported by Mumbai Mirror) had already worn the gold Swapnil Shinde dress seen on Priyanka past weekend (see inside). But, we definitely did not miss this ‘Ditto’ wear Rani was spotted wearing a teal green version of the same strapless dress seen first on Priyanka. I do think they both look great but this one we’ll give to Ms. Chopra. Much prefer her pumps over Rani’s bronze platform sandals. You?

Coincidentally, Priyanka was promoting ‘Pyaar Impossible’ and was at the DPL sets when Rani wore this dress. :P

  1. oh god no P&P… its Rani for me all the way.
rani rarely does western outfits well…and here she’s looking amazing…
and given her usual choice of bad footwear…what she’s wearing is absolute GOLD!
    will wonders never cease…!!!

    • Exactly how I feel. the color of Rani’s dress is much better and this is a look Priyanka has done too many times.

Rani wins this one for me.

      • Truly !! Rani absolutely works the look. Lovely colour. Even the footwear is okay.
Priyanka’s blue is way too bright and bluey bluey. Plus those silver heels are way too boring. In fact she has the same look in all her pics :P Very sad considering the PC is pretty babe.

  2. priyanka’s electric blue and silver combination is too kitchy looking and reminds me of the Disco days lol

Rani’s Bronze complements the green and glams up the dress even more… and tres tres chic might i add:) not to mention its such a change from her usual attire.

  3. P&P…you meant neither right? RIGHT? Coz..come on now….these dresses are just too short! they look awkward…just weird..something not right with the length and fit….need to be a tad bit longer….I love both colors…but the dress is a no no for me…..

  4. I have to say that Rani is looking amazing!! I think she is carrying herself and the dress remarkably well. Priyanka has done this look to death– its refreshing to see Rani give this look a shot !! Love the color on her too!

    priyanka vs katrina
    priyanka vs rani

    • Since it is always Priyanka who wears a dress first, others are following because they probably want to look like her. Rani makeup and hair don’t go well with this dress. Those shoes aren’t helping her much.

  6. Oh my god..Rani has lost oodles of weight! n luks so gorgeous! For me..priyanka did it best coz she preferred no accesories luk which works for western outfits n also because of the choice of her footwear. Rani luks a li’ll less that Piggy chops ;)
as for second pic… aw hoe lovely n sexy does priyanka luk.. amazing!

  7. Priyanka wins this one for me. Rani always looks very very UNCOMFORTABLE in clothes that show a lot of skin. She looks so at ease in saris and other Indian wear, but here it almost looks like she is dying to cover up. She looks much better than any other Bolly actress in a sari, so why doesn’t she stick to what she does best!?

    • totally agree with you….rani just looks awkward…she seems to be trying to hard lately (bikini in hadippa etc)…she looks best in saris & other indian outfits

      • Just because someone wear’s a bikini doesn’t mean they’re trying too hard lol!! If you look back at what these actresses wore back in the day it’s not much different from now.. belly baring tops (which really isn’t much different).. short skirts.. why don’t you guys just say “Oh Rani lost a lot of weight so she’s trying too hard to be sexy”. I mean.. all the girls who try to look sexy and change their look become fitness freaks right? Why not bash on Rani for that? It’s ridiculous!

I actually did think Rani looked better in this because the green is such a lovely shade against her skin and while you can’t see her eyes in here I think it would really make her eyes pop as well. I think the colour combination is better than Priyanka’s whose is too bright and loud with the bright blue and silver. I think Priyanka looks better in sari’s (when she drapes them correctly) because her body type doesn’t suit short dresses.. she looks too much like a bobblehead and she doesn’t have the hips for it.

      • i think sharin is right….why you all forget that rani was the one who started the trend of short dresses in gulam and kuch kuch hota hay and she rocked it…and when she wears sarees the same ppl say oh she is so boring why cant she try Something new here her shoes are looking perfect and priyanka is wearing an old common combination!!!…I DONT KNOW HOW YOU CAN GUESS THAT OH SHE IS LOOKING UNCOMFORTABLE…..WHEN KAREENA WORE A BIKINI PPL SAID THE SAME THING OHH SHE IS TRYING SOOOO HARD….WAT DOES THIS MEAN””TRYING SOOOO HARD””

  8. Rani wins the first time, and Amrita the second – Priyanka’s hair just kills it for me both times, in both its avatars. Furthermore, Rani is totally working the risque dress with her attitude in the first case – compared to her, Priyanka just seems too vanilla.

  9. am i the only one who believes there is an age limit for wearing such short dresses .. can anyone above 22 (except maybe nina manuel) carry these things off?

    0

    0
    • Am with you. Not in a Nazi way of course, but you know, mid-thigh isn’t always flattering. And no, it doesn’t matter how thin or fat or stumpy you look, it is more about how comfortable you are. I am not saying we should sacrifice fashion for comfort, but somewhere, you have to draw a line. And maybe that line could be six inches longer? ;)

      0

      0
    • That’s rather ageist, isn’t it? If you feel comfortable in it, and can pull it off with confidence, you should be able to wear whatever you like at any age.

      0

      0
      • Nothing like ‘ageist’ really….Im totally with Slow and Stuti…and picked neither in my vote too..coz the dress is just too short ..and makes it look awkward…..its not always ‘if it makes u comfortable wear it’……just a long T shirt makes me(and 90% of the ppl around) comfortable :) doesnt mean one wears it in public right? There needs to be a sense of what looks good and not weird and age appropriate ( remember how we hate Katrina when she wears her -8yr old girl- pink dresses?)

        0

        0
      • That is because a long t-shirt is not fit to be worn in public, it’s nightwear. this dress is party/ semi formal wear. To tell a woman PC’ age with, PC’s body to wear something longer because she’s too old for it is so ridiculous.

I do not understand even remotely how this is wierd. Most western celebs who are far older than PC or Rani would dress much more risquely and no one really objects. At the end of the day age is a very shallow parameter for judging fashion. Fashion is about rocking what you wear, not sticking to a set of age appropriate rules. In that sense, it’s how fit you are, and the kind of attitude you have that helps you carry off a dress, NOT how old you are

And why should Rani play it safe and stick to saris? She’s probably bored of the same old, same old and is trying to experiment a little. Give her some time to find her own style and get comfortable. At the end of the day it’s her choice and I don’t see why she should wear saris just because some people think only Indian clothes / sairs suit her.

        • Also, ageist is discriminating against or sterotyping sombody becuase of their age.

Tp discriminate against a woman, by saying that she shouldn’t wear a mid-thigh dress solely because of her age when she clearly has the body for it, and to sterotype what people her age are supposed to wear (six inches longer) IS ageism.

          • To each his own..I wudnt wear a tiny denim skirt with tassles at age 35 ( doesnt matter if I look like gisele bundchen) coz it looks cute just on a 13 yr old…nor would I wear a pink – a la barbie- dress with frills even if I have the ‘attitude’ to carry it off…and honestly for this dress..Im not that much against the lenght JUST coz its age inappropriate…but acc. to my personal taste this dress looks tacky and ‘crying out loud’ for attention..but thats just me…when younger kids wear tiny frocks and dresses..it actually looks cute..when older folks ( doesnt matter if they are european or american really – you seem to think its ok for them for some reason) try and wear something too tiny and with an awkward fit..to “ME” to just looks off and nowhere near classy…..but then of course..Im not the style police…so they can pretty much go ahead and wear whatever the hell they want…and tell themselves ‘I have the body for it..I’ll wear it’…we will just sit here and judge their fashion sense…..:)

          • @ chocolate martini: I totally agree with you. To respond to the other SS, as you said, you wouldn’t wear the mini with the tassles because you believe “to each his own” – which is EXACTLY why there shouldn’t be an age limit to minis or anything else; if an individual feels comfortable, confident and attractive in it, she should be able to wear it. Of course you may judge it on its aesthetic appeal, but there IS such a thing as ageism, and saying that one shouldn’t wear a certain kind of outfit after a certain age IS ageism. Furthermore, my comment clearly stated pulling something off with confidence along with comfort as factors.

  10. Hmm.. I’ve seen some other pictures of Rani from this event and she does not look all that radiant what with her actively competing with Kareena for pouting lips to a greater extent. Great legs but the curls and the ugly sandals kill her look for me. The dress seems a tad akward on her and looking at Priyanka, I can see why. Priyanka has thinner thighs and legs than Rani which is probably why the dress fits her so much better. Not too fond of Priyanka’s hair but I think the pumps make up for it big time. If she hadn’t been on her short, body-hugging dresses spree, there wouldn’t be a sense of deja-vu which is the biggest turn-off in Priyanka’s look.

  11. i LOVE ranis hair color!! its the perfect shade of glossy brown without looking brassy and cheap i.e. priyanka, i wonder what all-over color she went with….

  12. LOL…the number of comments on here calling this dress too short/ inappropriate would give the Taliban a complex.
I know a lot of people with immediately disagree with me, but that’s just my take, I am not looking to argue with anybody. I think that if you have it, you can flaunt it. And if you can carry it off, it works.
Both Priyanka and Rani have fab figures and are confident enough to carry off this dress. It looks sexy, not tasteless or indecent. So I’m loving it.
If these are too risque what about so many. many of the dresses and outfits that American and European celebritries wear? (and pull off with elan)

    • I agree. I really wish i could carry this dress well, but i know it wouldn’t suit me. I think the dress is amazing on both rani’s and priyanka’s figures.

Once again rani will be inspiring my workout and maybe I will be able to wear a dress this short as well as she does (with better footwear)

    • I agree with you. Yeah, i never understood this too short and age appropriate comments too.I don’t like Rani in this outfit since she is caked up and doesn’t carry this look well. Not because it’s age inappropriate. I think the only celeb who doesn’t get much flak for her minis is Malaika.

      • Indeed. I don’t think there’s an “age” involved in wearing short dresses. SJP is 40+ and she wears short dresses and looks pretty good in them. I think its just that we are so used to seeing Rani as the “seedhe-saadhe” girl, we can’t get used to seeing her different. I guess its her PR people’s fault :)

  13. Rani looks far better in this dress. even though she may be slightly fuller than Priyanka, her thighs are far better suited to the dress than Priyanka’s. I must say, Rani is really pulling out all the stops! I have to say that i would definitely prefer this dress, to, or just below the knee. Would be far sexier.

  14. I have said both, yes Priyanka’s shoes are better-but 200% marks to Rani-for losing weight, pulling off this dress… I forgive the shoes… way to go.. Love, love, love both colours. Awesome

  15. Priyanka = Short and tiny
Rani = whatever else everyone else is wearing

Here, the dynamic duo go where no woman in her right senses has dared to go before… tinsel foil paradise!!!

Seriously women, it’s like 3 weeks to Christmas… do you have to be all gift-wrapped already?

  16. its great to see rani change it up from the same old sabyasachi (not that i don’t love sabyasachi!!) and manish molhotra…but i feel like this dress is kind of teenybopper for her.
and priyanka really needs to change it up and stop wearing teeny minis everywhere! but i do love the color of both dresses :)

  17. Also, one more thing:

people keep critiicizing Rani for not sticking to saris because that’s what they think works for her

Yet, when PC who totally rocks the mini, sticks to it, everyone criticizes her. Isnt that hypocritical.

Man, some comments on here (SOME not ALL) are quite oppressive.

BTw, no offense, this is just my take

  18. PC for me! I know shez doing too many minis these days & I don’t like her in many. But here, she looks good. She makes the bright blue work! I like Rani’s green color but somehow find *this* one very artificial – as if shez trying too hard! Good for her that shez lost oodles of weight but she still needs to wear what suits her & makes her look comfortable. And whatz up with her truck loads of makeup these days? See, thatz what makes her look artificial & as if shez trying to fit in.

    • Firstly, Rani is only wearing “trucks” of makeup, as she is filming for DPL. Obviously, she needs to pile it on, the lighting is horrendous on tv shows.
Secondly, Rani IS comfortable in minis and risky dresses, watch KKHH and see that. Just because she changed her look for a while doesn’t mean she can’t switch it back up once in a while.

Priyankas body is just too weird for this dress, she has no hips so it looks a bit funny. Ain’t even gonna coment on the hair..

Love the colour of Ranis..though she does need to change her hair.. it’s boring.

  19. What’s up with these b-town actresses repeating dresses all the time? I mean seriously why would you wear a dress that someone else has already worn and they have been photographed in it a million times. I mean you know there are like million choices out there then why oh why?

Ahh anyways it’s neither for me.

  20. How can u say Priyanka…its RANI for me…Priyanka…as usu is so boring in a short dress…horrible hair …looks like she came out of the bed… how can nyone like her…RANI on the other hand look ..WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!

  21. Priyanka all the way man! rani just looks pretty meh in that dress. But i’m glad that she tried though. Amrita always looks disgusting in western attire because she tries to hard!

&& P&P a girl who hosts zing sccops wore the PC && RM dress in a dark purple ;)
