Priyanka on Harper’s Bazaar:(Un)Covered

Although it’s a romantic soft look for Priyanka on the cover (which we like), it is the more hard look (which you can find inside) that grabbed our attention.

P.S. Although we added a snippet of the interview, keep in mind the comment policy. Only fashion related ones will be approved.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview…

There’s something about Priyanka Chopra that never fails to surprise. If you think she’s got one of the best bodies in the business, you’re right. At 5’7”, Priyanka has a lean, athletic frame, and an unbelievable 24-inch waist. Yet, she loves to indulge herself. This girl is a true Punjabi at heart and loves her food. (Her mum supposedly sends her a full dabba of home-cooked food on set.) And if she looks relaxed and easy-going, she is. She’s friendly and smiles all the time. But the truth is, she’s juggling an incredibly paced schedule: inside her vanity van, she’s conducting a chat with a radio station (while she’s getting ready for this shoot), and afterwards, she has a showroom inauguration to attend to.

Known for her brass-tacks, straightforward approach to work, she replies: “Both my parents were doctors in the Army, so a lot of my discipline and work ethic come from my upbringing. Growing up in the US for a few years also gave me a different perspective and contributed to this work ethic and outlook.” And it’s this attitude that has catapulted her to the top of her league. “I love what I do; it’s that simple. My passion is what drives me.” Priyanka initially studied to be an aeronautical engineer, and it was only a chance entry into the Miss India pageant that made her change tracks (her younger brother and mother sent in the form without her knowledge), forever. It’s only after her Miss World win that she found her “true calling”—cinema. “I’ve worked very hard to achieve these dreams, and you have to make the most of the chances life gives you. I come from a normal, middle-class background far removed from the film industry. I’d say I’m destiny’s favourite child!”

An unconventional beauty in an industry ruled by fair-skinned, light-eyed beauty standards, how does she fare? “Looks do play an important role for any actor in mainstream cinema, and that is not restricted to our film industry alone; it happens everywhere. But, if you go back into the history of Indian cinema and even today, you will see that Indian audiences have been very accepting. While we have had some of the most beautiful women and handsome men grace our screens, we have also made superstars out of ordinary people who cannot be classified as traditionally good-looking. At the end of the day, I believe, more than looks, it’s how you connect with the audience that matters,” says Priyanka.

  1. She looks utterly gorgeous in the Emilio Pucci dress. In the front cover it is either photoshop or the makeup at fault which makes the size of her face and features out of proportion to her body.

  2. She is looking a lot like Jacqueline Fernandes in the last pic!But good nevertheless. Now, if only she could dress edgy like this in real life too!

  3. Sorry to say but there’s no WOW factor in this shoot. The last pic is so Sonam!!!!! Harper’s needs to do an anniversary issue with Sonam!!

  4. She looks fabulous in the 2 looks inside..I particularly love the look with the pants and the jacket, which is a departure from her usually girly looks…i wish she experimented more with her looks similarly in real life!
