In Anuj Sharma

This isn’t the first time we’ve spotted Pratima wear Anuj Sharma so that comes as no surprise, however, we do wish she’d take a page out of say someone like Ayesha Depala’s book and wear more of her own designs, she being a ‘designer’ n’ all.

That aside, how fab is the color on her?

  1. It is simply NOT acceptable for a supposedly ‘good’ designer to turn out such sub-standard work: that’s the most half-hearted draping I’ve seen in a long time.

I find that while a lot of Indian designers have good asthetic sense and fabulous use of clour in their design, they fail when it comes to the actual fabrication of the dress.

Either the cut is all wrong, the material used is cheap/shiny looking, the silhoutte is too flimsy or the embellishements are liable to fall off. I wonder why this is since they have the advantage of such skilled (AND relatively cheap) worksmen in the country who are so good at weaving/ embroidery etc. + the country has such a rich legacy in terms of textile related crafts

I mean, I very rarely find western wear with the level of workmanship that I find on a traditional Indian sari.
Yet, Indian designers hardly ever match up to the quality of even a slightly expensive international high street brand

  2. I think its more appealing if a designer goes for others. Kinda makes me think she’s confident about her own designs that she need not sell it at every sight. Plus where’s the fun in lookin at your pieces all the time :p
