In Hervé Léger?

January 19th, 2010 at 11:38 pm . by Payal

At first glance, I could’ve sworn that model Prashita was wearing a Léger and considering everyone gravitates towards the bandage versions, I was pleasantly surprised to see her go for a non-bandage one. Except the more I compare the runway version with hers, the more differences I find. :( (FYI, while runway pieces are sometimes modified when they reach stores, never seen a Léger that was.)

Of all the bandages and striped Herve Leger’s, this DOES not work. I know everyone has belly and underarm fat, but how about wearing something that complements the curves. Does not look flattering around the waist.

  2. manisha says:

the lady is thin, but even then the dress makes her look fat – i guess these clothes are for the size zero flat chested ones. she really does herself no justice in this outfit.

What did you guys find different about the off-runway version? Looks just the same to me.

    • SK says:

the cut in the front is a deeper V in the original. on Prashita its a smaller V.
also the beading is a lot shinier on her than on the model.
      hmmmm…

  4. tania says:

love the dress (especially the cutouts!) but i hate the way it fits her.

Did you know in India you can take photos of any indian designer or outfit from an indian movie and show it to your local roadside tailor. They will replicate everything from colours to materials…. so if they can do it with indian clothes why stop there?….

  6. sri says:

like both the dresses. but the white sequins are making her look big. wish they kept the black sequins as is.

  7. Madhu says:

Classic example of what is “in” might not necessarily work for everyone.

Clearly the Herveians had Shilpa Shetty lookalikes in mind while designing this one. She is the only woman in the set of Indian fashionistas that I can think of who would be a knockout in this number.

Really am surprised 2 c tht how do u guys function..dear payal vitout havin any knowledge uv wrote abt smone..fortunately i hv met ths girl twice n she really has no association vit d modellin world n is married..most important thing if u r interestin in writing about smone thn pl from now onwards try n right d fact..she comes from a family where she doesnt need 2 wear replicas n trust me people who wear brands can judge in seconds donno about u tho..!

  9. nalini says:

yes, i also do not think it is fake. It might look different than the runway picture because the camera flash is illuminating the stones on the dress.

  10. jiji says:

Ok, after looking at it again, i think you’re right. Good observation – i know dark stones and crystals catch light easily with strong camera flash… i take back my comment from above, i think this is the real thing…. but doesnt mean other don’t or won’t wear replicas..

You know, I dont think Herve Leger is the kind of brand that can be replicated easily by local tailors. Bollywood clothes are easy because they are usually do not have complicated silhouttes or dramatic cuts (even the western wear except for a very few films) but couture gowns and bandage dresses and such? Nah

Also, I HIGHLY doubt that any of the women featured on this site frequent roadside tailors :-). Maybe they unwittingly wear dresses that have been plaigarized by dishonest designers who were ‘inspired’ by international brands, but I do not think that movie stars, models, socialites and industrial wives need to go to a roadside shop to buy cheap fakes :-)

P.S: I am not condoning plaigarizing, its obviously horrible

P.S- the comment above is in reply to Jiji

and I meant they do not usually, not they are usually do not :P
