  1. Very, very chic! She is spot on. Everything is right about this look. the skirt length is very sexy. Shoes are hot and the top is elegant. The red lipstick is just right for this look. Love it!

  2. I love Nina. I love love love Nina. This is why you should opt for a longer skirt as opposed to something that cuts you at the mid-thigh.
I agree, this is not particularly revolutionary, but look at her, she is gorgeous. I love her skirt, basic and classy. The top is silk, not my choice, but I love how it skims.
And of course, I love a nicely done red lip, anytime, anyday.

    • with this particular look, knee-lenght definitely works better than mid-thigh.

I do not at all understand however, why this is any evidence that one must alaways opt for knee-lenght over mid-thigh?

Look at Gauri khan when she walked the ramp for K Johar, for instance. Now that was one time, when midthigh was THE way to go, and she totally rocked it

      • Oh, I didnt mean that you should always opt for a knee-length. Not at all. It’s all about the lines, and the cut. A below-the-knee, just above the knee, and knee length dress/skirt is always more flattering. Plus, a shorter dress needs a perfect cut so you don’t look stumpy and look as if someone forced you into the dress. Unless it is a beautiful cut, doesn’t cut your lines, a mid-thigh length is hard to pull off.
Of course Nina could pull off any length. 😉

        • Gotcha 😉

And I agree with you, a mid-thigh dress is hard to pull off unless it has an excellent cut, especially-dare I say?- since Indian woman are not genetically endowed with the world’s best legs. I mean most Korean and Italian women I know look gorgeous in mid-thigh length

Dont get me wrong, I am an Indian woman myself and I think we are fabulous, and very beautiful but just not, in general (and ofcourse there are exceptions) blessed with the best legs. Just my opinion

          • Oh I agree. I know I’ll be hated after this, but we Indian women have curves, and are meant to have curves.
But at the end of the day, what matters is if you are “working it”. Don’t ask me what that means, it is way too ambigous. It could be a media-propagated myth too, for all I know. 😀

i get excatly what u guys are saying… thats why traditional indian outfits like sarees and suits are designed to skim our bodies rather than hug it 🙂

and yes … when in doubt – wear knee length! 🙂

May the LBD live long and prosper 😉

  3. i loved the dress …. i myself do black to death ….but i rather prefer a mate REd lipstick than a glossy one , also anthr piece of red would have been visually more appealing …may be a clutch , a ring or may be just nails …

  4. i don’t like the red lips with the shiny black top. I think beige/brown makeup with glossy lips, sequined clutch and shoes would have been better..

  5. Nina kept it simple, sassy, and classic. She owns this look…even if it’s not the most creative. Fashion isn’t always being ingenious…it’s also about being true to your own style and this is La Moda Manuel!
