Sari Style

It was a sari for Neetu Chandra at a recent art exhibition. Though not really fond of the sari, Ms. Chandra did look nice. Definitely an improvement from the last time, no?

P.S: Is anyone else bothered by the shorter length of the underskirt/petticoat? We certainly are.

  1. if she were to make three changes:

    1. a better blouse … with sleeves

    2. a longer petticoat

    3. wear the sari as she did in the first photo

    i would’ve loved it!!

  2. gosh, the first picture looked so good and the petticoat literally killed the look…. one can’t help look at that for sure…no mirrors at home, Ms Chandra?

  3. I quite like the Sari actually…Would have looked perfect with a proper blouse and the short underskirt is a definite boo boo…

  4. seeing the 1st pic i thought she got it right this time.
but omg, not only is the petticoat short but also of a different color, which i think is the big mistake when wearing a sari.
‘If you don’t have a matching petticoat for a sari then dont wear it.’ because it looks very bad. the bra blouse also does not look good.

ps: looks like she has some ankle sprain & hence the short peticoat.

    • I think an exact match of petticoat is only reqd for translucent sarees. For silk sarees or other thick ones, its fine to wear them without falls and with a close colour match petticoat.

  5. Bothered?? I’m disturbed at the sight 🙁
Sheer/net saris need a good petticoat inside(usually shimmer ones). Not your regular cotton petticoats.
At least the length could have saved her, but no such respite 🙁

  6. In the first pic, everything looks great but by the time you get to the fourth pic, you end up thinking that may be this is not that great a look, after all (with a poorly-fitted blouse and a petticoat that is ridiculously short). That said, I do love the saree.

  7. The beauty of the Saree is ruined because of that short petticoat – doesn’t she have a full length mirror? The saree by itself is a happy color; she’s a pretty girl and could have made it work much better…..

  8. The saree pallu is GORGEOUS ( i would have loved it even more if it was all the way like that instead of being part plain yello).

But she killed the beauty of the saree with that blouse, petticoat and no falls.
