Rare are Ms. Das’ appearances and when we do have a sighting of her, rarely does she ever veer from her style sensibilities. Not that we are complaining. 🙂 Like what you see?

  1. I saw Nandita in 1999 at my University when she was about 29/30 years old and I was a wide eyed 17 years old. She was very earthy looking wearing a yellow cotton Sambalpuri saree. Its amazing after all these years she still looks amazing, so fresh, not much difefrent from her younger self. She still has the same style, something which is her own.

I have noticed ladies who stick to what works for them and to their own brand of style seem to age slowly. Case in point Nadita Das and Jennifer Aniston. Jen has not changed her hair or style in a decade and when you compare her recent photos to her photo from 2001 there is not much difference to spot.

    • I don’t think the curls are the problem. Its the saris she chooses. She’d look so stunning if she’d wear regular INdian saris over designer ones….LIke Nandita does..

  2. The one on the left is okay, but I honestly think the one on the right is really dowdy. I can imagine what people would’ve said if Vidya Balan or someone had worn the same outfit.

  3. I think her look is too simple and classic to be dated. An LBD or a kanjeevaram are never dated and a jeans and kurti will never be ‘fashionable’ but can’t be called outdated either. Hairstyles on the other hand, like Madhuri’s curls, are very time bound.

Also, body type and personality make a huge difference. What is dowdy on someone built heavier, like Vidya, looks light on someone as slim as Nandita. VB would look massive in those jeans and a kurta and I say that while admitting I love her.
