Keeping It Simple

Comment image 31

It’s everyday fare but considering how so many peeps go wrong even with the simplest and most basic of outfits, you will appreciate the fact that this needs to be appreciated. Nandita Das stuck to organic-and-earthy, and looked lovely in red at a recent event. On an aside, we wish the glowing mother-to-be all the best for the future.

  1. Such a Earthy look- perfect for a glowing mother to be. There’s really not a more perfect look for a pregnant woman than the bohemian/Earthy look. Remember Angelina at Cannes?

I’m going to be a total hippie when I’m pregnant, just watch.

  3. I wish her all d best but keeping in mind dat dis is a fashion blog, P & P… Y oh Y do you feature this lady?? She has no fashion sense n I am sure she doesn’t want to be known for any fashion sense. I know I am sounding rude 2 some.. but C’on.. look @ d footwear!!! Fugly. If dis is called some kinda earthy look or watev u call it.. den i should be giving an award to my maid everyday. she wears the same kinda clothes as this woman but only with a better choice of chappals (?).
I am pretty sure U’ll not approve my comments πŸ˜‰

    • Your maid wears clothes like this? Wow. You must have a very high class maid. It takes some taste to truly appreciate the beauty in Indian ethnic wear and I think Nandita represents it beautifully.

    • She is here because she is such a refreshing change from all the bling and synthetic otherwise! For Indian weather there is no better fibre than cotton and thank God for people who understand that.
I really like Nandita’s clothes. Love the azhrak print on her duppatta and the red is so organic and beautiful.
And if your maid really wears as you claim, I must insist that she has a very good choice πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

    • I wonder why on this blog people bring maids into the picture when trying to put someone down.

Just because someone is a social/economic class below yours, does it mean that they are automatically less stylish? Can they be stylish within their own sensibilities and capabilities?

By your logic, the Ambani ladies should be the most stylish in India, followed by everyone else?

      Just curious…

      • olala I absolutely agree…I can think of a more crude, insensitive putdown than “my maid wears these clothes”.

        • I think when someone says “maid wears this”, it only refers to a regardless attitude towards clothing (ofcourse logically noone will put effort to wear nice clothes/makeup when they know they have hours of physical activity ahead of them)

We can totally replace that “maid wears this” to “when i clean garage” reference.

  4. True Payal, I am not saying she doesn’t look good in what she wears. I am saying what she wears is not good enough to be posted in a blog like this. I respect her… but nope.. I don n never would agree with anyone who says she has got a good fashion sense!
    Thanks for the approval πŸ˜‰

    • “fashion sense” is relative…it doesn’t necessarily have to be about labels..she has her own style. What do you consider “good enough to be posted in a blog like this?”

    • Wow, this is why we have been bogged by issues like casteism, and child labor. how old is your”:maid”? 12?
Fashion is also about style and if you can wear a $10 Gap dress and look better and carry it off better than someone wearing a $5,000 D&G dress. Who has better style?
Maybe your maid has a better style than you. Just saying.

  10. I love Nandita JUST for the fact that mossst of the common people can relate to her style of dressing yet she teaches how to look beautiful about oneself even in simple clothes. Dont get to see this on many celebrities these days. Love it !!!!!!

  11. Nandita Das is SO adorable!!! I saw an article in the Indian edition of People about her Gandhian wedding…it seemed so refreshingly simple and classy and egalitarian, just like her dressing sense.

Im going to disagree with everybody here and hope that you feautre MORE of her on this blog. πŸ™‚

  12. If it was anyone else, we would be saying “what was she thinking?”
I absolutely adore Nandita for her simplicity and gorgeous face… but… but… but… watever she is wearing here is so bad, i cant believe every one is going “wow” abt it.
there is nothing bohemian abt it (by bohemian if you mean unconventional) and i just dont understand what “Earthy” even means in this context…

To me, she looks relaxed, not worrying abt clothes… which is fine with me.

But all this praise for the look and clothes just doesnt sound right. Baised much?

        • well.. i Dont think style would mean donning a bunch of fashion labels…n i wudnt say personality coz i dnt think she has a celeb-maintained body considering her petite frame. Anyways… Just a personal opinion. lets not take it too far πŸ™‚ …………..
