At The Theater

Jewellery designer Ranjana Khan and her husband Naeem Khan attended the American Ballet Theater’s Spring Gala in New York tonight.

I know exactly what you are thinking! WTHeyyy is she wearing??? Yes, we thought that too! With access to gorgeous gowns thanks to hubby dearest, why-oh-why did she pick this ridiculous creation?

P.S. Something tells me that the gown might be a Falguni-Shane Peacock creation. Update: Good God! This is a Naeem Khan creation. Eeeks. Thanks ‘Angel’ for the update. Check out details about how it was made in one afternoon Here.

  1. Hideous from top to bottom. What are those blue things – ribbons or feathers? And what’s up with Naeem’s shoes? They look cartoonish too. *sigh* And this is the guy that dressed the first lady – maybe he could offer Mrs. Khan some fashion advise too.

  2. IMO the bigger atrocity was committed by the one who designed and actually brought this hideous WTHeyy to life in the first place.

  3. OMG>>…And the woman poses like she is a miss united states.
And guys shoes…I dint know this guy-naeem khan is some fashion designer and dresses first lady.
I think in fashion world , make some ridiculous-unstructured dresses and you ll bcom famous.

Looks her one thing is bigger than other.

  5. hey P&P – isnt this the same Naeem Khan who designed Mrs Obama’s gown for her 1st official state dinner for the Indian PM and his wife?

  6. @Nisha: Because she hates him. Lol!

Anyway yea, she stole feathers from the chicken factory. They will be calling right about now.

  7. she looks like an oversized fish with feathers. Naeem khan had a beautiful line of summer dresses two years ago. This year his collection at NM is simply awful. very OTT

  8. I’m reminded of Ursula from The Little Mermaid. It seems like something she’d wear.

Just for my peace of mind, I’m going to assume that they got into a huge fight right before this and she did this to piss designer hubby off. Their expressions say it all. Hahah okay kidding, but this is horrid.

  9. I apologise to all those bollywood ladies who I criticised for their 1-boob drape and how it made them look chandini bar – because this takes chandini bar look to a whole new international level!
forget Whetheyyy… this looks downright cheap!

  10. I’m pretty sure this is a Naaem Khan creation actually. SOme of his gowns are heavenly, but some of them are ridiculously OTT (I saw a feature with him and his wife in the Indian edition of some intrenational fashion mag, I forget which).

Anyway it makes more sense that she would wear one of his gowns and not a rival’s?

    • @ pennylane – To stare at her bodice would require an extraordinary amount of courage – am afraid I wont quite be able to take you up on your offer 😉

  13. This is a stunning piece!! All of you with your untrained eyes do not understand nor could comprehend the intricacy involved with its creation. The A-symmetrical design decorated with all of her own highly embellished jewelry… these pictures could never do it justice.

To all you haters… Don’t hate the player, hate the game

  16. The other site describes this as a ‘stunning’ gown. It stuns alright..in a cattle prod kinda way…or ‘a-half-ton-club- hammered-viciously-into-your-head’ kinda way.

At least he gave very constructive criticism. But what happened when he designed this dress?!!
