Art Speak

At the Resist Art Show, a travelling exhibition aimed to create awareness on gender inequalities and abuse of women, Monica was the living element of artist Puneet Kaushik’s “Between the Altar And The Butcher”.

The performance piece shows a lady trapped between carcasses of dead animals and an alter, which illustrates the state of women in South Asia who are either treated as meat or goddesses.

If you’re wondering what is a Gauri and Nainika gown (on Monica) doing at an art show, it’s because the exhibition has been incorporated with fashion. Having said that, did Monica have to wear that hairdo with the gown?

  1. To have driven home the point about meat or goddess, she should have been dressed as an Indian Goddess, not in a stupid gown. This is just showing her as “meat” again, with that cleavage showing.
