Sari Style

Boman’s son’s wedding reception really brought a smile to our face. Instead of seeing loads and loads of OTT/glitzy saris, we saw a lot more of traditional weaves. Our favorites were, Mini and Kiran instantly (loved them!) but we had to feature just about everyone else. You’ve already seen Shahana and Konkana here.

Our only gripe probably was Anaita whose sari was nice but wish she didn’t look like she put it on in a hurry and walked out the door.

P.S. Don’t miss Kunal Roy Kapoor’s daughter’s outfit. So adorable!

    • If I am not mistaken, Kiran Rao is wearing a Uppada saree. I have a similar one in navy blue and beaten gold. Have loved it since I got from my sis-in-law two years aho.

Rao looks gorgeous, doesn’t she? Her jewelry shines against the background of the sophisticated and muted saree.

      • I am 21 and I have only worn sarees such as these every time I’ve had to right since I was 14…and let me say (with whatever shall remain of modesty after I say it) that I have beaten the s**t outta the of the sea of net and and sheer and all the ugly travesties they pass of as sarees nowadays..

        • By sarees as these I mean traditional hand loom weaves..being an Odia after all ( from the land of loom :P) although I would say any of the above sarees are nearly as striking as they can be..maybe Ratna’s saree comes close partly because of that personality of hers…she is such a delight to watch 🙂

PS What is it with the words eerily changing positions upon posting…the resulting statement is so grammatically offensive..

  2. Love Kiran’s saree… perfect jewellery. Rarely do we see her dressed traditionally. love how she has modernized the look by a different cut blouse…very neat. All other sarees are too simple and plain for a wedding/ Even Mini… too casual for a wedding. Shernaz Patel saree is as old as time, come on…is this the best she could do?

  3. It is a nice portrait of India no?

People from different communities in the country and speaking a similar sartorial language that is distinctly Indian.

And hullo Ms Pathak Shah who seems ageless. The best Indian actress ever no matter what she is in (yes I am a fangirl).

  4. Please try and tag Mrs Kapoor with her first name when you can. I can see why it had to be done, but I’m sure you would also appreciate that in this age it isn’t nice to only be referred to as, someone’s wife.
