Again. And Again.

Guess who loves his kurta?

As much as we love it too, we think Mr. Arora should retire this one for a bit. :p After Aug it was almost as if the kurta went into hiding but came out again at Good Earth where Manish Arora launched his own line of china.

Think we’ll have one more sighting of this fun blue kurta before the year ends? 😉

  1. that’s the problem with such brightly colored clothes: lovely design, but it gets old after one wear! and if you hide it away and excavate it after a few seasons, it become dated.

    LOSE-LOSE situation.

  2. Hey P&P, I was just wondering how to do the nude pumps correctly??? Should it be so close to our skin color that it almost become invisible? Or a shade lighter or darker???

Katy Perry’s here are almost invisible, which doesnt look right to me. What do u say???

  3. he thinks he looks creative! but end up looking like the cartoon on the kurta. sometimes yellow shoes, some other times navy blue sneakers; well he can’t even decide which one will match!

    • The idea is not to match, I don’t think you’re grasping the concept: it’s about kitsch, graphic madness, eclectic-ethnic. His designs are chaotic, but creative.

And about him thinking he’s creative: Let’s see he’s showcased at leading fashion weeks in London and Paris, he’s collaborated with every intern ational brand from Swarovski to M.A.C, his clothes have been in the Victoria and Albert Mueseum in London, leading fashion journalists like Suzy Menkes and Hilary Alexander have given him rave reviews, he has stores in every part of the world.

I think he is justified in thinking he’s creative. W hat is not justified is the appalling arrogant tone so many readers here use to refer to Indian designers.

      • everything stupid can’t be called creative my dear! it’s called ridiculous! and it’s not about indian designers here but even if he was an european or another country’s designer with this type of kurta, i would called it just a personal opinion instead of making an issue!

        • @ Samantha: I have to agree with Belle here: you might find the kurta stupid, but this is fashion and your opinion is purely subjective. If you hate the kurta, thats cool. If you love it, thats cool too.

But what is NOT ON is you branding him ‘not creative’. The truth is we’ve seen a lot of hideous creations by western designers over here and nobody has rushed to call them uncreative the way they have Indian designers, and that too for a reason as silly as them switiching up their accesories (‘he cant even decide which one will match’, sweetheart it is not at all about what matches!! AT ALL. Clearly you are totally not grasping the concept behind his designs, which is all the more reason why you ‘be passing sweeping judgements on his creative ability)

Thats as silly as saying the same thing about say, Lady Gaga (who wears his clothes and subscribes to his design philosophy) her clothes may look crazy/ stupid to people with a certain asthethic and she certainly does not ‘match things’ but is there any doubt about the fact that she is creative? No

And as for him thinking he is creative, like Belle said, he’s totally justified.
