Sari Style

At the two shows that she attended on Thursday, Manasi sported saris to both. Between the two, she fared better in her beige Anavila. The metallic Akaaro ,while gorgeous, seemed to overwhelm her.

I wonder if because of the material being too thin, she had no option to pin it around the shoulder. Which also leads me to a question. Anyone know how to work with delicate saris like this. I am always scared to use a pin on such materials.

  1. There are really thin and sharp sari pins, which dont pull on saris (because they are so fine and sharp) – totally changed my view on pinning saris! You can find them in small multi-utility shops.

  2. So, my grandma used small safety pins, but she added a pearl like bead to the pin before pinning it to the sari.
She believed that helped from damaging the delicate fabric. Not sure if its true or just an old tale πŸ˜€

  3. please don’t use pins on sarees! it’s not a big deal, once you get used to it, I promise. you’d never put a pin through a designer outfit so why would you do that to six glorious yards of silk or linen or cotton?

    • How do you manage? Some saris when the pallu is light, it falls off. πŸ˜› Unless of course you wear it seedha palla drape or like a scarf.

  4. With black or dark sarees, I use a teeny tiny bobby pin instead. Its light, doesn’t go through the material, and if you know where to look, you could even find ones that match other coloured sarees.
