Fusion Style

Comment image 41

At a recent wedding reception, Malaika Arora served as emcee but instead of going a traditional route, she donned a fusion look by pairing a cutout gown (seen before at the 2007 Filmfare awards) with a heavy necklace and a maang tikka and I actually liked it. I guess the fusion look was better to look at than the searing red/silver worn by Neetu (see inside).

Thanks ‘SS’ and ‘Vaishali’ for the Filmfare tip-off.

    • lol… i agree, she rarely wears anything that extends beyond her well shaped rear end, in fact i keep wondering if its classy to almost always dress like that, waiting for a peekaboo accident to happen or its just how some beautiful people prefer it..

      • bar dancer cum halloween cleopatra look gone wrong. Why pair such an ornate necklace with a dress that has so much going on, and isn’t the first rule of decency not to try to outshine the bride’s bling?

  3. Great Look!
Love the necklace and the mang tika with the dress.
Only she could have carried off something so outrageous with so much elan.

  4. Sorry but I do not like the fusion look at all—-it looks neither here nor there as opposed to an amalgamation of the best from both styles! I prefer her in the earlier picture.

  5. Uhhh, not really. Firstly, I don’t see that sari as “fusion”. It’s simply a 21st century Indian sari. Secondly, what’s so wrong with it? Fix the pleating, and I think it’s quite a nice sari, especially considering the monstrosity I was expecting after being primed by Malaika’s ridiculous ensemble. Neetu wins here.

  6. lol at Tongue in Chic’s comment!
I just cannot get myself to like this woman.
There’s something about that dress that repulses me. I cannot pinpoint what it is!

  7. Without the necklace it would have been quite okay for an emcee. Hey wait, is there a slit in that dress? Why was that necessary?

    Neetu’s is awful.

  8. If it has to be a toss up, Neetu ‘s outfit over Malaika’s any day. The jewellery looks like its choking her, not to mention the rather ‘filmy’ over-styling

  9. I am all for Fusion.. and Malaika has done that before very well… but this is really tacky.. the heavy necklace, the gown with so much flare and that slit.. nope..
Neetu looks way better than Maliaka..

  10. On anyone else, the red dress would have looked cheap and tacky.. Malaika miraculously carries it off. Neetu’s saree is okey dokey.. not a disaster
