This week’s JDJ taping sees Madhuri in a light pink Shehla lehenga with pearl chandelier earrings and her hair worn up.

The change in hairstyle was quite welcome but am not sure if it works with the lehenga. What do you think?

  1. 🙁 I just want all B’wood stars, actually the stylists to not pin their sari with the one b**b showing.
I’m sure everyone is aware that sexy is an attitude and has nothing to do with skin show. Mads is so elegant, graceful and this drape is neither and is actually borderline in the other extreme.
Sorry this one didn’t make the ranks for me.

  2. She is looking really nice here, but that ONE FOR ALL TO SEE pallu style is something I will never understand and appreciate. Otherwise the color is nice and complementing her neither have any problem with the hair. She is looking nice and young. Just the pallu.

  3. Not liking this! She should be wearing longer sleeved blouses, that’s not helping her arms. Also the blouse is short & tight, makes her look more top heavy.

  4. The drape doesn’t work for her and even though the hair is taking ages away from her, the blouse and the awful posey-pose more than ruins the whole look at once. When is she going to fire her stylist? Like seriously.

  5. What’s with the excessive boob display ? Hate the drape. Why can’t the stylist make her look a little classy ? I wish she’d try dressing like sonali bendre who comes across as more polished, albeit a little bland sometimes. This jdj flop show needs to stop.

  6. The drapping of the dupatta looks cheap – looks like she is trying hard to look ‘too’ young.
Her face is looking weird (too much botox?)

    • I would like to see Madhuri dress in tradiational attire – traditional saree, with bindi, flowers OR a nice salwar, plaited hair, bindi. She will look nice.

  7. Am I the only one who feels Madhuri is trying too hard to look half her age? She is so pretty but somehow I feel that with every look of hers she is trying to prove a point. This look and most of her other looks in JDJ are no different. And I have to say Anaita is doing a terrible job. My first issue with the styling is who wears lehengas these days unless you are going to a wedding. Except for Madhuri, I don’t see any other celebrity dressed in lehengas unless they are at a jewelry week. Why is Madhuri always stuck in the 90’s? Also, the styling of the lehenga is even more ridiculous. Why the urge to always display the waist? And I am not saying it’s not age appropriate. It just doesn’t look good. 9 out of the 10 she has fitting issues especially around the bust. She has been in the industry for so long and she still does not get it. I much prefer the previous post of Vidya Balan in a printed sari. Atleast she is proud of being herself and carries her love for sarees with so much more elegance. Sorry for the rant but I just got sick of these lehenga looks.

    • Madhuri could never dress well. HAHK dresses could have been a fashion statement only in the 90s.

People might say Aunty but less glam actresses in sari look better than the blinged out try hard 40+s.

    • +1000….My thoughts were the same when I saw Vidya in the previous post. Madhuri should try to dress her age. I feel Vidya and Rani (sometimes not always) dress up so well for their age. They look beautiful in sarees, salwar kameez with the bindi and simple accessories…

  8. Can someone please ask that she cover up. This dhak dhak pose with that awful draping looks cringe worthy.

And half sarees (whether the traditional south indian half saree or the recent modernized version) can only be carried off by folks (much) younger than Madhuri. It looks plain ridiculous and silly at anything past your 30s (and even that’s a stretch). the lady is waaaaaaaaaaaay past that zone – A classy saree and draping with the same color combo and hairstyle would have looked so magnificient on her, but now – she turns out unsuccessful trying to be very wannabe Sonam or a Samantha.

Dress your age, or atleast try to dress your age less 15.

    • Precisely. I think lehenga is a bit alright since you can get a longer top and the dupatta is worn differently. But pavda dhavni (seen here) which has the proper blouse and the way it is traditionally worn looks way too awkward on people who are not in their teens or twenties. Madhuri, poor lady tries way too hard.

  9. A boob show now? Madhuri? Seriously this can’t be Anhaita Adjania Shroff ( oof, the length of that name)’s work. Amazingly tacky- they’re really plumbing the depths for attention.

  10. The hair and the look is a welcome change…she is going in the right direction. I hope someone will not make an ageist comment…because she is looking super-hot.

  11. I tried to imagine the Pallu drape in a different way with this lehenga one which according to the popular vote here will cover both her boobs…But I will say this that it just won’t work. This lehenga with the way it’s been styled alongwith the blouse and drape looks quite good on Madhuri. Also, for heaven’s sake the full sleeves police, this is a beautiful lady pulling off a perfectly tailored Lehenga!! What else do you want of her…
This JDJ season Madhuri wore a whole variety of clothes. Some good, some not too good. Nevertheless she looks like that one Bollywood Diva who can pull off anything with her grace and million dollar smile.

  12. Agree with all of the comments above about her inappropriate pallu draping and 90s diva dressing. It’s not even about the age, it looks tacky and unbecoming on anyone who drapes it that way.

  13. This will look better on someone with a figure that can carry off such a look. It doesn’t really have to do with age, shilpa can wear this and it wouldn’t really look inappropriate. It’s not the prettiest outfit but it’s not bad, just doesn’t suit Madhuri.
Madhuri looked her best at the Dahi-handi celebrations in an anarkali, she looked great!! You should post those pics.

  14. I loved the color, and I think the first pic is super flattering. The drape seems to have changed in the second.
But I totally think this looks age appropriate. And she does NOT have to cover up her arms – good lord! Do you now need barbie arms to wear anything that displays your arms?

  15. I’m torn. The face is exquisite. The hair really shaves off years. But I have issues with the outfit. The blouse I dislike. Maybe something which wasn’t as short and didn’t show off so much waist.
Its like no one knows how to handle her generous boobs, do you tuck them away discreetly or shove them in our faces?
I think if the pallu covered her chest (and normally I am not part of the boob police) this would have been tons better.

  16. 1. Madhuri looks amazing.

    2. There is no such thing as an “Age appropriate outfit”. Get over yourselves.

    3. Stop the ageism. Just because your moms dress discreetly doesn’t mean Madhuri should too.

    4. Even those of you half her age and zero the boobs couldn’t carry off this dress to even quarter the level that she does.

Madhuri is the true representative of the 90s. She’s glam, she’s hot, and she’s not afraid of it.

    • 1. no babe, she looks way too conscious and badly styled.
2.there is. elegance n sophistication comes from age n body appropriate dressing. wont it be lovely to see her like that (case in point-dahi handi pics)
3.noone wants her to dress like their moms (lol). just dress well. as i said before, sri, maria, mini ; and avantikas anavila look, all cases in point. 1 boob show looks tacky; whether 20 or 200 yr old.
      4. we wont wear this 90’s monstrosity (nice color though). so there, no question of carrying it half ,quarter or full levels.
agree on the 90’s representative part. sadly, its not 90’s anymore. and i would say she is very, very afraid of change.

  17. Madhuri and the moral police go hand-in hand…or perhaps they are stitched at the bust. After all the nationwide uproar on a nude poster of Aamir Khan, I was not expecting a pallu drop and a tiny choli can cause so much hullabaloo in a fashion blog. I am amused.
