In Tarun Tahiliani

This year the Marrakech Film Festival honored Madhuri Dixit for her work in Bollywood. The actor was spotted at the festival attending a premiere on Saturday evening wearing a Tarun Tahiliani lehenga sari.

As radiant as she looked in the sparkly lehenga and the maroon blouse, now that I have seen the underwire, I can’t quite unsee it. This probably was a pre-stitched sari so wearing the dupatta differently wasn’t an option. I still think though, pulling it across just a few inches would’ve downplayed the blouse.

It’s a bummer that even with that dazzling smile, the blouse seems to hoard all attention. She looked so good neck up.

  1. Nothing works for her here.. Neither the princessy skirt of the saree, nor the drape, the badly shaped blouse, sleeves that look like curtain drapes nor the earrings. Only her dazzling smile and hair do are a Saving grace

    • Try as I may, can’t spot the said boob.
Many (including me) share the distaste in bunching/pushing off the pallu to the side, but boob-show is as inaccurate a description as it gets.

And just good “sari blouse” to see the typical length of a blouse.
It’s not short or revealing either. Everyone and their moms wear blouses shorter than this.

    • I came here to say the same thing. This does wonders for her posture and plays to her strengths, despite the overall meh-ness of the dress.

Some comments about her being ‘too old for this’, are in poor taste.

      • So agree about the ageist comments. People just want anyone over 30 to cover-up and hide behind meters of drapes. That too when this doesn’t even remotely look wannabe sexy or designed like that (my thoughts on the meh outfit aside).

Even if she wore something sexy to say a fashion event, don’t understand what age has got to do with that!

  2. I don’t know why, her smile looks fake and “plastered” here. I like how the sari-dress looks tailor-made for this occasion, I mean, it’s so Moroccan looking, including her earrings. I think she wears it very well, but I’m generally very uncomfortable with the way Madhuri grooms and styles herself and poses in front of the camera, there’s something not so real in the way she comes across.

  3. I think this is a remarkably good choice keeping in mind the exotic venue. May not have worked for Cannes or Berlin, but it’s a flattering and intelligent choice for Marrakech. She looks fabulous- and should retain/ appoint the stylist behind this look. Good going Madhuri and congratulations.
    Underwire not an issue.

  4. i think she looks really good and it’s a really good choice for the Marrakesh film festival. I think it’s really really sad how some people (just because they don’t like her) are insulting her and talk everything bad! at least it’s a question of taste. if you don’t like the dress it’s ok but please leave madhuri alone.

    • I respect Madhuri as one of the greatest female actors in Bollywood history but this is a seriously, seriously hideous look and the last I checked this was a fashion blog and not a fan page. Nothing at all is even remotely acceptable here starting from the theatre curtain sleeves to the seriously inappropriate for a top heavy woman blouse, those cheap plasticky ear rings and most of all the innerwear issue. The drape is the sorry icing on the cake. My eyes badly need some respite so excuse me as I browse through some Dia and Neha posts!

  5. Radiant skin, dazzling smile, hair do is good and the colour combination of the outfit is nice. If she had worn a hand woven sari, she would look awesome, but I think she wearing Moroccon style outfit here.

  6. She looks fabulous! One of her best looks in recent times and the outfit so apt for morocco. Love it.Well done to her stylist for getting everything right this time.

  7. Werkkk. But seriously, if I look half as good when I’m her age, I’m going to be very very happy. And I love the subtle middle eastern touches to the sari, i.e. the fringe, etc.

  8. She looks graceful and beautiful in this outfit. Any of the younger lot would look tacky in this outfit, but Madhuri pulled it off with her dazzling smile.

  9. Don’t care for the outfit but she wears it well. Saw a couple of pics elsewhere and she looks really good. Perhaps this angle is not doing justice. Make-up and hair is spot on though.
