Shine On

The Louis Vuitton Mahina that we’ve spotted before on Ayesha Thapar and Farah Khan was one of those LV rarities, we actually liked the bag! But LV has recently released a new version of the bag this time in patent leather…

Called the ‘Surya XL’ it apparently pays homage to the Hindu sun god and to quote them directly, the website goes onto say, “Name pays homage to the Hindu sun god who rides through the heavens in his triumphal chariot, inspiring the glossiness and brightness in the Surya’s supple patent leather”!

The connection/inspiration seems contrived at its best, the bag, a monogrammed patent nightmare at its worst.

  2. you know, strip away the name and material, and i actually like the shape of the bag and the way it’s slouchy and comfortable. but the nomenclature is so superficial, typical exoticising the east shit.

  3. i think they called it surya bcos they know how much the socialites in india love their LV. I live in London and I don’t even like LV but I’ve got some of their bags to use when I’m in India as it makes a difference to how people treat you in certain circles. it’s quite sad.

It depends on which state you are in but check their sites for specific stores in the state that you live in. LV is also available at Saks and Choo is available at Bergdorfs and Neimans.

It would be best to visit the individual sites to find out where they retail at in the particular state you live in. 😉 Most of the Saks stores have an LV store adjoinging the store too. You won’t find the LV inventory online at Saks because they work separately.
