LFW Winter Festive 2010: Anupamaa

You may remember seeing ‘Bronze Begum’, the bridal collection by Anupama Dayal. That’s because we first saw Delhi ladies Tanisha and Witty model some (may we add badly styled) at a preview event.

On the runway though, it was a different story. Styled to perfection, the models walked out wearing vibrant colors worn during the Mughal era, which also was Anupama’s inspiration. There were saris, lehengas, full skirts, anarkalis in rich fabrics like jacquards, silks, georgettes made even richer with gotta, zardozi and metallic embellishments. Am simply in awe of the work on the pink kameez in the last row.

  1. The yellow outfit on the bottom row is striking, but for the most part I find this collection garish. It maybe the lighting, but it doesn’t look anything like rich Mughal silks and jacquards – more like cheaply embossed polyester & netting.

  2. The pink kameez is to-die-for ! I have my brother’s wedding coming up and need to shop bigtime when I reach India later this month..Can you please gimme an idea of where I can buy her label in Delhi? Also, is it very expensive high-fashion stuff or like mid-range? Thanks PnP 🙂

Love the every single piece (though the green saree could be better worn).
Totally love the first look – Red kurta with those bottoms. Totally my style !

  4. LOVE LOVE LOVE! This is ethnic done right. I like that the unconventional risks taken do not end up looking tacky, unlike several other designers who attempt traditional garb.

  5. LOVE each piece, especially the parrot green parsi saree and the yellow saree…I also like the yellow “Haryanvi” skirt which can be worn both in a desi and indo-western way.
