Lessons In Geography

L.A.M.B introduced these new bags that seem to be inspired by India, in name at least…

If there’s an obvious reference to be drawn between the names and the bags themselves, we for one are missing it! Its almost as if the designer ran out of names, drew out a map and threw darts to pick out options…

  2. i dont know looks like it was inspired by LV….remember knightsbridge, kensington, hyde park, marylebone etc? Although the areas are of London, the idea is the same.. I wasnt able to figure out why LV went that way too..
That Bangalore bag is downright ugly…pity they named such an ugly thing after my darling city!

  3. The name could be in regards to the block colours, or perhaps the designer created the bags after being inspired with something to do with the country.

  4. Patna and Orissa? Anyone else see the irony here?
These bags probably retail for 100s of $$. To name them after few of the poorest cities/states in India is so stupid.

they have sort of that deset-ish rural feel (does that make sense)
it reminds me of the movie “Darjeeling Unlimited)

  6. Seeing as how the designer totes around her own entourage of Japanese women that serve the sole purpose of being life-size dolls, I’m not surprised by the cultural ignorance. It seems that designers are always eager to exotify their items, but always miss the mark.

And, to add insult to injury, the bags are HIDEOUS! Who in their right mind would look at one of these purses and say, “Wow! These are the most breathtaking purses I’ve ever seen! Of course I’ll shell out $500!”?

  7. Its quite rare to see bags named after otherwise ignored – only known for poverty- states and cities. The bags might be hideous yes, but names are not. Orissa and Patna have great craftsmen and colourful crafts and I like the fact the names can give some familiriaty to some parts in India. Its like LV not wanting to have an India inspired range because India is still poor compared to the rest of the world!!
