Lara in Elle India: Decoded

Comment image 66

Even though we’ve seen two out of the four outfits featured on Lara already make an appearance in the September issue of Harpers Bazaar ( featuring Bipasha), the styling of this shoot just totally blows the other out of the water (even though that was good too). Of course, the whole team should get credit but ‘Wowza’ at Lara! This spread has left us wanting more. More of Lara in print.

You can catch Bipasha in the D&G and wearing the Marilyn print Dolce gown in her interview with HeadlinesToday Here and Lara’s inteview in Elle Here.

    • i think its got to do with the gown too … its so flared that it gives the illusion of a tiny waist.. plus the slight angled profile also helps 😉

I love everything about this shoot right from the selection of clothes to styling to green cover to hair…. but why make gorgeous-dusk- lara appear so fair and lovely-ish??? i mean c’mon guys.. she looks whiter than the white models in the pics!

        • i honestly don’t think they were trying to make her look fairer. the whole setup reminds me of the picture quality/style from the movie 300. if anything i think they haven’t used as many lights and have used the stark white b.g for heightened contrasted. & it all comes together so darn perfectly

        • coz it will very soon wipe out the concept of natural beauty. Come on! does Lara needs to be so heavily photoshoped. She has all the grace, beauty and poise to make the photoshoot work with out the gimmick.

But the styling is to die for. totally loved it.

        • Because that makes it fake and I don’t think they deserve the credit then ….. Anyway , I didn’t like the shoot at all……. her hairstyle is horrible and a complete NO NO for such dark lips ……

  2. omg…i was speechless for a while.
there is no one like her in our film industry. i’ve said it before…this lady has class and sophistication that is unmatched.
love all the clothes on her…maybe because she makes them look beautiful.
the d&g mettalic jacket is a drool.
the only thing that i’m disappointed in is how they have made her look so fair. lara has a gorgeous skin tone…why would anyone change that…not fair :))

    • Totally agree with you!!
      She’s is a class apart!!

i’ve seen her and Katrina together at the same event.. and Katrina was nothing in-fromt of her!
Katrina has pretty features, fair skin, lovely hair and overall looks pretty, but Lara is leagues apart.. she’s got the height, personality, dusky skin ,confidence, grace .. and is simply stunning!!

      • i’ve heard that too. i know someone who was there during the making of singh is king and they thought that katrina is not ‘all that’.
i think the camera loves her.

  3. Fabulous! I’ve always found the Lara Fan Club on this site a bit excessive, but this spread is completely stunning. it’s wonderfully styled and photographed (who?) and Lara oozes attitude without coming across as too strong (which she often does).

  4. WOW!!!!! I have got to say, that this is one of the most beautiful shoots i have seen done in India, and Lara looks sensational!! Absolutely stunning! LOVE!

  5. She looks gorgeous..but that waist and those skinny skinny hands..some serious photoshopping. 🙁 Why do they have to portray an image of stickly thin women to project beauty?

  6. Great Shoot. But where is Lara? The photoshopped creature on the cover is lovely but Lara is lovelier by far and they should have had faith in that.

  7. Wow ! stunning ! kudos to Elle. I thought that the Bispasha shoot was great… but this is in another league altogether. Vogue editors…. are u watching?????? All the photos are fab, fab, fab. Have never been a Lara fan, now I have changed my mind

  8. Awesome!!!
One of the best shoots to come out of a fashion magazine from India!!!
Vogue guys.. y’all need to pull up your socks!!
Lara is simply stunning .. though I would have hailed this spread as the bench mark of all future spread if they had not photo-shopped her waist/hands and skin color!!!

I’ve seen Lara in real and she is superb!! She would have rocked it wayyy harder if they had not photo-shopped it at all!!
    Nonetheless, this is F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S !!!

  11. I cant believe everyone love this. Its pathetic how much photoshopped this shoot is. Why compliment Lara when she’s hardly there. Any other actress / model or even you and I could have looked like this with the manipulated photography and photoshop.

      • I love how people artfully throw the word “photoshop” around without having any inkling of what it entails.
If a picture doesnt appeal to you, so be it. No need to mercilessly blame photoshop.
FYI, any person with an art background will attribute these beautiful pictures to contrast lighting, with a flat ring flash using flat lighting. Together with make-up and styling of course.
And seriously i doubt you or me or J could have possibly looked like that with all the help in the world.
        Class dismissed.

  12. I havent seen lara on covers that much… so its a very refreshing change and how awesome she looks, though i cant tell its Lara in some of the pictures 🙂

  13. Are you serious? I would never have recognized her as Lara!! She looks nothing like Lara dutta….its embarassingly photoshopped to a point where no one would recognize her as lara if not for her name next to the pic)

    Reply
    • Whole heartedly agree-I’ve my dumb moments where I don’t recognize people but even then I wouldn’t have recognized her at all if it weren’t clearly labeled so. What happened to natural beauty? So much photoshopping and she doesn’t even look all that spectacular to me in the end-she looks much hotter in her personal appearances.

      • I on with you girls here. But then which photo shoot is not photoshopped? I am not even one of those who like all the size zero crap- unnaturally tiny waists and all! However, what I would like you think here is that what if any other actress had done this shoot say for example Kareena…just imagine- it would have looked so forced or Katrina or for that matter anyone else. It is hard to deny that she is bringing the needed attitute with so much ease. I would not take that away from her. The clothes look fantastic and styling is stunning. This photo shoot is a good piece of work! Plus who says that all shoots are meant to show natural beauty?

        • But photo shoots shouldn’t be so drastic that we can’t recognize who it is. I lie not if it weren’t for the label under the pics or some other form of id I would never be able to tell it’s Lara. The second pic disturbs me because of the extra tiny waist but that’s a story in itself.

  14. honestly..if u gimme dng gowns…that kinda makeup…good photographers n photo shop…i ll end up lookin stunnin too..lol…n dont understand why ppl so omg omg bout the pics..

  15. The clothes are perfection, the styling is flawless, the whole effect is stunning, and the model looks good. But, she looks like she could be, maybe, possibly Lara.

  16. The point of this shoot is to create a situation of artifice that is gobsmackingly glamarous. It requires photoshopping, heck the pleasure of these pics lies in the way it has been worked on. Anyway it’s nothing new even the old Hollywood pics were manipulated and we still think them classic. Glamour photography requires that the effect be heightened but you do need some good base material aka Lara to start on. So people should quit complaining about photoshopping.

Also given how many glamour pics go wrong or end up looking plain stupid, I would say kudos to the team and model for bringing this about.

  17. I loved the photoshoot!! Fabulous! Lara looks stunning, great visuals-the MM gown looks great. Second pic-I think there has been some photoshopping to her waist in $the picture. worth all that weight loss.

  18. Agree that everything is photoshopped….but when you photoshop to a point where noone can even recognize you…what’s the use of doing that photoshoot? a little enhancement is great but you can’t wipe out the person’s whole identity…..then why choose lara dutta for this photoshoot…any one could have done it!!

  19. The Best Cover in a long time and i will tell you exactly why listen you guys … ok? sure photoshop can only make you look artificial and something else …. lets consider these examples kareena when photoshopped looks older and wierder …. katrina does not need photoshopping because she is pretty …. but she is also predictable and boring … all her pics look quite the same … and dipika … sure she is pretty and hot but she is not expressive and we all know that and is dusky so ends up looking fairer albeit the same expressionless face …. but the model in question …. lara ….. OMG !!! she is the perfect model/cover girl/muse etc …. can you imagine dipika giving you the same vibe or effect …. no right ? funny coz she is a model too and much younger than lara …. and yet lara looks more edgy and futuristic and yet to appealing …. like cherry blossom pointed out earlier …. no amount photoshopping in the world can give you the IT factor … sure you can look better but you cannot get the IT factor and lara is the only indian face who is truly international ….
PS she looks so much like a model and so european 🙂
moral of the story …. photoshop or no photoshop lara rocks …..
