Sari Style

The sari itself isn’t our thing (nor the clutch) and this ‘look’ just seemed so over-crowded on Lara with way too much happening… the hair, the jewelry, the sari… and yet, despite it, Ms. Dutta comes off looking elegant. How does she do it?

She looks gorgeous. I love the sari and the hair. This isn’t a western look where you either go with either gold earrings or bracelets or gold clutch. It is an Indian look where bling done in a tasteful way is never OTT and she does it well. Love it.
completely agree with you, when doing the indian look slightly OTT in a tasteful way works, as Lara is showing us, love the saree, the whole look.
I really am confused as to what type of saree’s PnP like?? they dislike all saree’s celebs wear, unless its practically plain and boring except that one saby saree also worn by naomi cambell (liked the grey version not red).
Would love to know.
Totally agree… Indian look needs all of it. Only think i wish was better/different is the blouse.

I agree – I think with Indian outfits which already have sequins and all manner of sparkly stuff, you can’t dress with the western mindset of “oh, i’ll just put on earrings, else it would look too much” – there is no such thing! I think the look should be complete with the bangles, earrings, bindi etc. otherwise it looks UNDERdressed.

She looks fab, like a million bucks. On any one else it would have been information overload, but she aces the look
None of the individual items of her outfit stand out, but put together on Lara they look fab. She’s supremely confident, so at-ease with herself that it doesn’t seem in-your-face, and that shows. Wow. Gorgeous woman.
How does she (lara) do it?
I think it has something to do with her confidence, and that quintessential smile. I saw her pull off a lot of ghastly looks with her quiet poise.
if she could bottle her poise and sell it she’d make a fortune. a small minus point here is that she looks like she’s wearing extensions.
Well maybe because she wore the sari the way it’s suppose to be worn :).
Anyways Lara always looks well put together and classy! Love this looks..actually I really love the sari.

yeah, this is a Ritu Kumar saree – I’ve seen it in ads.
I think her sari is by Ritu Kumar.
Lara’s blouse is similar to Neha’s Ritu Kumar blouse which wasnt long ago.
But she looks lovely. & I agree the clutch isnt my thing either.

Lara looks stunning. This lady oozes loads of confidence and oomph! IMO, Lara out-shines any other actress in Sari. Dress this gal in anything she can make it look fab!

This is one of my favorite looks of the year! She looks amazing! I love the draping of the sari the best. I think everything about it is just right without being overpowering…one more thing and it could have been too much. Damn, I love it. I wish people like Priyanka Chopra would dress like this…it’s traditional without being overly so…still youthful and fresh.

lara is a gorgeous woman but there is nothing about this look that i like except may be the combination of black and gold. her hair is a mess; i love the jewellery but it is just too much with this sari/blouse.
she is blessed that she can never look bad…and in this case, the saree is not that bad. its definetly not ther best, even though, it is good!

Her saree is so well draped..and so I had a question now….for a sari to give the body this kind of a shape ( narrow as it nears the feet as opposed to usual sarees where waist down it width is uniform – how is this look acheived? by not wearing a pettitcoat underneath instead replacing it with maybe tights or something?
The Sari is definitely a Ritu Kumar, its available at most stores!
ahh finally the sari is worn like it should be, and Ms Dutta proves why she won miss india and miss universe while a certain other lady cough *PC* cough won first runner up at miss india…
at least lara doesnt look like a wannabe trying to act as if she is the coolest person on earth
