Packing A Punch?

… Not quite! After giving us gorgeous editorials, Lakshmi surely disappointed at the 2009 Costume Institute Gala. She was dressed up by designer Rachel Roy for the exhibition in a pink strapless number which she wore with Manolo Blahnik for Rachel Roy booties and Mont Blanc jewellery. Although the back of Lakshmi’s dress had more detail, it still didn’t quite make up for the disappointing first impression.

Considering the theme of this year’s exhibition was ‘The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion’, we are surprised Ms. Roy couldn’t be inspired more by this lovely muse. Or was it she kept the best for herself?

You can check out more of the exhibition and breakdown of who wore what here.

  2. I acctually don’t like the detail on the backside.. apart from that she looks pretty. The Blahniks have been worn so many times now I feel. Was this the same evnt hosted by Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs? where Kate was in a turban?

Overall Lakshmi’s outfit suits her skin tone & body shape.

  6. wowwwww! I absolutely lust for lakshmi’s skin…it’s so glowing and luscious! The dress looks FAB on her, and the color looks even better…I swear this woman can never do no wrong!

I also like rachel’s dress with the black tights 🙂

  7. I think something longer would have looked more powerful and made a statement. I can see this type of outfit on Serena or Blair from Gossip Girl or 90210…nothing super fantastic or haute couture.

  8. I just saw these booties on a girl this morning in Chelsea, she was wearing it much better, wish I had a picture of her fab outfit to post !!
BTW, you go to Met gala, and this is how you dress your fabulous model, in a satin towel?

  9. Considering the theme, I think the dress was quite blah and I don’t care much for the detailing at the back nor for the Manolo booties – you can see how Lakshmi’s toes are practically touching the floor off the booties!!

  10. Agree with MK. It looks a lot like a satin towel from the front. Even Lashmi Menon doesnt seem to be carrying it that well. Delish colour though!
