while these particular outfits seem quite nice (well, most of them), i agree with suchi. ritu kumar’s “label” collection turns out looking kind of cheap in real. i think partly it’s the fabric she uses: this stretchy spandex type stuff that looks just like it has traditional indian embroidery in photos, but if you look at it in real, it’s just a print on the fabric.
but, that said, i have also found a couple of very pretty indo-western tops with lovely embroidery and mirror work.
I love the clothes and I dig the bag in the last pic on the left coloumn with the runaway flowers–I want. Now. Bank account: prepare to be depleted. While I may not like the “Japanese warrior makeup and hair,” the clothes are amazing. Well done Ms. Kumar–you grande dame of fashion you!
I love the first outfit. I have a similar cut outfit & I love wearing it with tights. Also like the yellow Tee & the skirt in the secong left column picture.
I really like all the stuff. Actually saw the show yesterday and it was amazingy done. Good attention to detail. Especially the shoes – they’re fantastic and really add to the outfits.
before bumpin into this site i actully thot that u wud wear these designer clothes..i mean they present it in such weird way on the runway..wid whacky accersories n makeup n hairdos…but neva knew that these dreeses r lovely wen worn properly..love the 3 n 4 outfit…
@Spongy….Same pinch. Even I used to think who would wear such clothes and to what occassion. Now, I keep guessing how well these clothes could be worn off the runway.
My one old Ritu salwar suit does not look like these outfits, but a couple are kinda interesting….
oooh i like the 3rd one! the others? maybe they’ll grow on me…
i like the orange bag too! what a statement piece! something i would wear… 😉
her label collection hardly looks this nice on her website or in her store!
i like is the use of orange and yellow… but it’s colour palette she used for her 09 spring collection. No wow factor.
each one in its own way shouts “notice me”… and i absouletly love the 2nd one on the left column… the detail around the neck stands out !!!

I like the yellow full-sleeved tee (?) and the orange in the clothes!
sabyasachi influence? These are traditional indian clothes and I’m pretty sure Sabyasahi didn’t invent these.

but there is no doubt that sabya is the best when it comes to indian clothes.
Love the print on the ramp and the background.
I love the shoes! Any idea who’s done them?

I love that black zip-up and the strapless dress in the 2nd pair. And the colors on the last outfit are lovely.
