Sari Style
Not all of you are fans of Konkona’s pared down, earthy and more often than not, very basic style. Does her latest appearance from a recent press meet help change your mind? We for one thought she looked nice, even if the look in itself was rather tad too severe.

Love it!
In the third pic, she looks like Jaya Bachchan
She is good to go a) If she is going to a funeral b) Visiting someone in a hospital. While I like earthy and basic looks, this one is more of an ayyah look . Actually strike that even they won’t wear such cheap looking vests as blouses.
What a denigrating comment!
Please P + P. Put up a spam filter for such words as ayah, maid, servant. These opinions really lower the tone of your comments section.
+1
Great suggestion
+ 100 to Senioritas comment on filtering such derogatory words. The term “ayah” by itself is not denigrating. It’s the context in which it’s used. I used to post regularly on HHC but have gotten so tired of all the body shaming, woman blaming comments that I decided to take a step back. As far as Konkona is concerned, she is looking lovely, but i agree that a chunky silver necklace would have elevated this look a lot.
Yeah, uncalled for.
Agreed. What an elitist comment. Also, rude.
Why so much hatred?
Umm..Is that a cassette tape in her hand?
Its actually a cassette tape iphone case, pretty funky right ? 😀
No, not funky. Pre-teens carry crap like that. Saree is awful. Blouse is even worse.
I kinda like the look. But I do wish she had added an antique silver necklace to spice up the understated outfit.
Basic yes. But also elegant.
@malaise… That’s a phone cover that looks like a cassette tape….probably the only cheery thing in the funereal look
My 60 year old mom saw this PIC and says ‘ I have cheerier clothes than this’
sari is really nice, but konkana insists on that scrunchy look that is downright dumpy. I can see a nice grayish-silver blouse, heavy, antique silver earrings and a chunky kada or oxidized silver cuff bracelet doing the work. A sleek do jooda complete the look.
Agree 100 times!
I love her style – very simple and just her 🙂 I’m not too fond of her bag choice .. but mostly like her in what she picks.
Is she wearing the sari with a white tee?
Also some chunky silver jewellery would have looked awesome with this
I like this!
More jewellery would have elevated the look. Maybe a silver choker. Also love the phone case.
not to sound very racist… but why do all bong women have to dress like they are some kind of communists or activists !!
And may I ask whats wrong in that, activism and communism. I think you are tying to ask is why do we gravitate towards traditional weaves. I think Bengal is very proud of its heritage, which translates in our fashion, in fact the best designers Sabyasachi, Anamika Khanna, Kallol Dutta are all from Bengal. I believe Ritu Kumar started her work from Bengal.
Not for the sake of argument just to broaden horizons, some Bengali women viz. Nayonika Chatterjee, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Mindy Kaling (mothers side), Dia Mirza, Tapur Chaterjee, Bipasha Basu, Sharmila Tagore…..
U missed out the stunning Moushumi Chatterjee. She is also so so pretty!
when you start a comment by saying “not to be sexist, racist, homophobic”, chances are you are doing exactly that. Also perhaps many of us Bengali women dress for comfort and showcasing outfits that showcase traditional weaves rather than going chammak challo with bling., As BongGirl pointed out, there’s such a broad range of Bengali actresses and models who wear diverse range of clothing.
Everyone on these pages love to go on about how great konkanas dressing is, even though she often wears the dowdiest of ethnic wear in the dullest of colours she can find. The above is a case in point.
I dont think anything can salvage this *Desi Nun* look. Total drab and total fail.
she has a very organic and distinct style.. Respect!
Just lovely from head to toe!!!
All I can see is her super cool iphone cover 🙂
Dowdy drab and unimaginative
P&P – I think you got the event description incomplete – I think you meant Political meet? but wait, there the saree color would be white or offwhite…
Konkana has freedom to wear and express herself the way she wants, I would not be caught dead in this.
