Kirron Kher always/usually dresses so well, and we love her design aesthetic, right down to her choice in pairing her jewelry with her saris or carrying ‘batuas’ instead of clutches…

But here’s the question for you, just for once would you like to see her change it up a bit??! And carry an actual clutch instead of that ‘batua’ again!? Or do you belong to the school of ‘why reinvent the wheel, what works, works!!”??

Edit: Yes, its a ‘batua’ and not a ‘jhola’! 🙂 (apologies)

  1. I love Kiron Kher … She is always graceful and indianized .She is stylish in the true sense …( i belive stylish is not being only trendy and label-savvy .. thats the reason I am not a fan of Zinta and Kareena’s style quotient or total lack thereof … I rather like Nina Manual and Kiran Rao types ) … Or like Nandita Das or Poonam Sinha ,who may not be seen in the trendiest of clothes but who always have a signature style about them ,which always manages to look great and stands out !
And, In today’s movie-crowd where everyone is jumping to wear ‘dresses’ whether their body-type or body-weight suits it or not , She gets full points for knowing what suits her best !

  2. While I agree that she has her own style quotient, I was always one for variety and versatility.
I believe that anyone can look good in any type of clothing as long as they know how to wear it (fit, color, accessories, ATTITUDE ect.)
…the problem is that many of them don’t know how to pull certain types of clothing off; plus, most people like to play it safe with fashion (which is why I love Priety Zinta and Nina Manuel , and (most of the time) Kiran Rao :D)
I like an eclectic style and therefore would like to see her change it up 🙂 It’s all about the risks baby!

  3. I never knew they were called “jholas” always called them “batwas” and I think they’re soooo soooo gorgeous, but I do wish she would wear something else- maybe an anarkali type dress a la shabana azmi…long open hair, saris, jholas=boring..you’re style shouldn’t consist of an uniform.

  4. It lokks like she has a sari in every colour and furthermore you must all have noticed the repeat jholas.

I like her indian style very close to that of Rekha (which is by all maeans a class above) but adding a touch of modernity without disturbing the desi spirit would certainly do well.

  6. I agree they are not called jholas but “batwas”. Ritu Kumar does very chic ones. But getting to the point, she can try clutches – it will not topple her signature style. Probably she does not believe in paying ridiculous amount of money to “phoren” designers.

  7. I dont even consider myself worthy of commenting on this one..She is brilliant beyond brilliant in her career and her fashion sense…very apt for her stature and age…and I dont agree with anyone being any class above her…not even a bit.

  8. I have always admired her for carrying her own style and not giving into the ‘Labels’. I do think 99% she is on the mark with her clothes and jewelery. I would like to see her do something with her hair though.

  9. She does make a style statement…makes her stand out in the crowd,I like it, no complaints if she choses a different one for every other saree.

  10. Like everyone said, I agree that she has developed this great style of teaming saris with jholas. But I think she should experiment a little. There are so many options even if you dont want to wear western outfits. She could style her hair differently either into a nice bun or other chic styles or try sporting salwar kurtas or even the anarkali dresses. Also the jhola style can be experimented with and yeah she should try carrying a clutch once in a while!

  11. I agree with Emma, that style shouldn’t consist of a uniform. Agreed that it suits her, but after a while it does become boring and from such a versatile and creative actor is it too much to expect the same in her dressing sense?

Perhaps you misconstrued the text? We mentioned that we LOVE Kirron Kher’s design aesthetic. Having said that, we asked ‘you all’, the readers, if she should change it up or not!

Please don’t let the comments on this blog define what Payal and I write about; as the title suggests, its a mere commentary on fashion and style and our take on it… and the comments section is for readers like you to voice theirs!

Running out of targetting people??? Now that just baffles me!! And everybody here as far as we know, IS a genuine personality…

Take it with a pinch of salt… none of this nor our posts are meant to be taken so personally… its just entertainment fluff!!

  14. Guys, please chill!

Kiron is beautiful and sarees are timeless. I have seen my mother and grandmother mostly wear saris and still it was never boring. As far as carrying “batwas” versus experimenting with clutches – you would think the answer would be yeah we not. But otherwise all of us mostly agree – she has her style quotient down and although she is not interested in our opinion, I will say she rocks with her personality.

  15. nah, I don’t think I’d like her with a regular clutch. A jhola of a different style, thats fine, but not a clutch, that’ll just not match her personality

  17. Loved her pairing the batwas with the sarees; a clutch would spoil it and also there would be brickbats if it isn’t a brandname which everyone likes.

  18. I love Kirons style-Her sarees are stunning, the kundan jewellery she teams it up with, her jholas everything compliments each other beautifully. I really dont want her to carry a clutch and become a part of the gang. When was the last time I saw a celebrity carrying a jhola-they all carry clutch bags anyway. Whats great about Kiron is she is different-still has a great style statement.

  19. @jig…yeah i think she should do something with her hair

@spee and jaishree…yeah i dont want her to carry a clutch…however, a different style of johla/batua would be preferable

  20. umm.. i dunno. i quite like the way she has a signature style. it suits her, she sticks to it. that is fine by me. i dont like most clutches. they are too tiny and dont rock a saree like a batua does.

that said, maybe she can do something with ehr hair once in a while.. something different.

but no, no anarkalis or western wear. i dont think she has the body or the personality for it.
