A New Trend?

Of late, Karishma’s been wearing quite a few patchwork brocade jackets on the reality show ‘Nach Baliye’.

As much as I love seeing ethnic prints and patterns in western pieces, these jackets just seem too busy.

As for moi, don’t like either much. You dig either or neither?

  1. i saw the episode where she wore the jacket with the white shirt and i didn’t like it too much because like you said it was too busy and bright..but for some reason i like the top one..maybe because she kept it simpler..and the colors are more muted than the bright pink in the 2nd one..

  2. this must be a manish malhotra..didn’t priyanka wear something like this a premiere? and then shilpa shetty wore the same thing later..and now these blazers..i like them..but not as blazers..
they would look nice on churidars like the sherwani style.

  3. i like the idea of these. Not as a staple (like jeans)..but something to be used once in a while for effect.
I agree re the “busy” nature of the jacket..there’s 2 too many at least…the collar and cuff could have been the same as one of the other prints..without the added embellishment too!

  4. I agree with apsara77, for some reason I quite like the blue one too, usually this busy sort of embroidery/patchwork isn’t my style, I think part of the reason is that KARISMA makes it look good.

  6. I totally agree with @fashionmaniac. A cami and slim black pants would make this look so much better. The shirt collar and the jeans are distracting.

I would ideally not pair peach tones with black stockings until the dress has some black print/design on it.
But to answer ur question , if u’ve made the right decision then I’d accessorize it with big black pearl studs.

  8. @ jaanetuyajaanena, i think a sky blue or turquoise colour would look nice with peach.

karishma looks cute! i love the indian jacket + jeans combo.

  9. If anyone can pull it off..it’s her…but I still think it’s a bit of an aged look. More appropriate for someone in their 40’s.

  11. is there any one here who doesnt like either??? what happened to the lovely karishma i was gushing about just last week? these outfits are so gaudy and if she was forced to wear them, jeans just dont work!! the earrings are completely unnecessary too. disappointing…

  12. I don’t like them either….the whole look is sort of aunti-ish for me! If they were perhaps longer and paired with a churidar I might re-evaluate my opinion!

  13. I don’t like the blue one.. the pink one looks ok. I just don’t like mixing traditional stuff with jeans. Karishma and Kareena both wore churidaars made from the same material few months ago on Nach Baliye and they looked SO GOOD!!!!

  14. Meena/Meg,
Considering Karishma always wears Manish Malhotra, you probably could find them at his stores. You can get his site information in our SHOP section.

  16. These jackets are inspiration from the A line suits both Kareena and Karisma wore in one of the episodes of Nach Baliye. I believe the pictures are here somewhere. The fabric and look are very similar. But I don’t like these anymore because they all look the same!!!!
