In Manish Malhotra

Like Sabina, Kareena Kapoor was spotted sporting a design off the runway before the collection hit the runway. Her white anarkali featured a kashmiri style embroidered v-neck design and a cutout at the back. Most of the time, when you all mention that a dupatta is missing, I don’t agree but on this ocassion I do feel a pale gold net dupatta would’ve completed the look perfectly.

  1. Payal,

She looks great…dupatta would have been too busy w the embroidered v-neck? Seriously, are you registered fashion designer to comment on fashion? It does not seem that way…By the way, I’m fashion designer?

    • I’m having a hard time understanding this comment, partly due to the lack of proper grammar, and the content itself. Since when is it a requirement to be a fashion designer in order to critique fashion? The fashion industry would collapse if it just consisted of designers critiquing each other without any input from the general public (aka the people who actually buy the clothing). There are plenty of designers who churn out questionable collections, and I would rarely trust their opinions simply because they make clothing.

For what it’s worth, Payal and Priyanka don’t need their opinions to be validated by you. The popularity of this site and their numerous interviews with prestigious magazines are a testament to the fact that they probably know what they’re talking about. 🙂

….Just to bring my ramblings to an end, I think a dupatta would have been a good addition to an otherwise lovely outfit.

    • she did not have to wear an embroidered dupatta. I think your comment is very rude and inappropriate. Every one including P&P are free to give their opinion.

    • Then Anna Wintour should be out of a job as well.
You are free not to come to this site if you don’t want to read opinions from “non-registered fashion designers”.

      • I thought designers design for customers. almost 98% of the customer segment = non designers. Sometimes designers are too close to their profession and tend to lack the objectivity to judge good design. They also seem to underestimate the fashion sense of the customer and believe anything they create goes.
Now coming to this particular outfit, she looks good.Dress is beautiful and a dupatta would have added to the dress if kept simple.
Even without the dupatta its a good dress.

    • I agree with you..a dupatta wouldn’t look good with this outfit..it would have hide the design specially at the back of the outfit 🙂 and as you said a dupatta would have made the outfit look too busy.

  2. I’m not a big fan of the outfit but Kareena looks simply stunning. And a ‘pale gold net’ dupatta would have looked ultra tacky.

  3. i do agree the outfit is looking kind of plain (mostly because of the shape of the kameez), but a dupatta would be tricky, given all the kaam on the neck and back – there would have been very few ways to wear the dupatta to highlight that embroidery instead of hiding it. and a net dupatta would not have done it justice.

  4. Love it. She seems to select some of the best MM designs. She looks radiant. I love the cut out part, very different. I think dupatta would have covered it up, so like it this way.

  5. the halter band on the bank with the deep V is bothering me, and I can’t quite figure out why. I think a dupatta would have looked good, but not a gold one I would opt for a white one with a sprinkling of the same embroidery at both ends

    • Na, I’ve seen many who try to convert their kurtas to dresses, and it just looks incomplete. I think the churidar ties the look well – love the outfit, she looks Fab.

  6. Something about Kareena Kapoor has “Star” written all over her! This outfit is so flattering on her! Not to mention the glow she has on her face which no makeup can really buy! Beautiful!

    • So agree with you, she has that “x factor” that a star walking the red carpet should have.
Not a Big fan of her, but she looks lovely here and I like this MM dress, finally something nice by him.

I also think it looks good without dupatta, but if they did have one, a glod/white one would be fine like the border on dress.

  7. Rather than a gold net, a what we call “chunna hua” dupatta (cotton or muslin crinkled up like a rope) would have looked fine on one shoulder.

  8. I have yet to see Kareena sport a decent pair of shoes. As for the dupatta am on the fence actually. considering that the dress has 3/4 th sleeves already, a dupatta would have been an overkill. perhaps if the dress were sleeveless, the gold net you mentioned or a crushed silk dupatta would have complemented the look.
