On The Runway

A beautiful Kangna Ranaut walked for designer JJ Vallaya at the ongoing Delhi Couture Week. She looked lovely but reminded us a bit of Shilpa Shetty from the last Couture Week (the overall look, not the outfit). Or, is that just us? 😉

      • I am so glad there are people alive in this world who can make clothes like that.

The models look like the prettiest of dolls !!

Not sure of the wearability of the clothes for normal people in normal occasions.

But they look gorgeous !! Would be perfect like for a period film made today !

  1. Wow, that is pretty stunning.

I’m not sure if I like with the way the dupatta is draped or the neckline of the blouse, but the colors and intricate work make me like the outfit more than I dislike it.

  2. I can see a little similarity to Shilpa’s look, but I thing Kangna looks better. I especially like the large bindi. It’s a traditional look, but not overdone to the point of looking costumey.

  3. No comparison to Shilpa. Kangna looks ethereal. love the neckline, the bling and esp the intricate work. what does something like this cost? $$$$$? The lehengas in the background are gorgeous as well, can you post pics of them too?

  4. OMG! I would have never believed that it’s her if I didn’t read what’s written above the pictures. She looks wonderful, prettier than how shilpa shetty looked last year.

  5. No, not at all! Apart from the two being bridal looks, there is no such similarity. Sorry, maybe i’m missing something but i don’t see it.

  7. I saw this sometime back and just couldn’t stop coming abck to this post again and again. I am in love with these lehenga’s.

I hope I can manage to wear something like this on my wedding day..if only *sigh*

  8. She looks amazing – absolutely positively love it. Leagues ahead of Shilpa – whom I did not even think of when I saw these pictures.

    • Btw – I wonder how much of a dent that would put in the bank balance? Don’t have a man yet but I think I know what I’d wear on my big day if I were ever to find the right one 😉

      • he he sej – my thoughts exactly! i don’t know about jj vallaya (this would assume that i get married sometime soon after this fashion season), but i am definitely saving these pics to show my tailor.

  9. wow! what an amazing bridal outfit. Vallaya is a master of bridal wear…right up there with Sabya! 🙂 I don’t like the weird neckline – is it portrait neck on one side and asymmetrical on the other or is the left side falling off due to the weight of the dupatta?

    • I love Sabya, but when it comes to bridal wear, Vallaya almost trumps Sabyasachi! He just has the perfect old-world classic Indian glamor that is completely lost in today’s who’s-sparklier-and -shinier-than-me with the whole bronzed-makeup-competing-with-sequins-on-chiffon looks. If I could look like that, I might almost consider having a big, fat, Indian wedding. =D
Just….perfect. And Kangana looks absolutely divine. And SOOO much better than Shilpa; I’m so glad JJ chose to go with her

  10. i am not big into lehengas, but these are divine. and i love kangana’s look – she is one of those few that can really channel an old era, and i love that about her.

  13. What an amazing lehenga. I would love to own one, if only to take it out everyday and admire it.

I cannot imagine the amount of effort in hand sewing that must have gone into it! Absolutely magnificent. A museum piece!

  14. Kangana is a fashion chameleon; I love how she’s almost unrecognisable sometimes.
She looks so confident and regal here, and the jewellery looks exquisite on her.

  15. This is what “indian” designer bridal wear should be like. Not loud, gawdy colors clashing against each other. Sublte, classic. And Kangna’s only adding to the beauty & class of the outfit.

  16. P&P,
It’s definitely you as this look is far from Shilpa’s look in the last season.
This one in soooooo exotically, rapturously, tradiational. DELISIOUUUS..
What a deviation from the usual bling, overkill of the designers JJ Vallaya’s intricate details on the lehanga shows his mastery at his work. KUDOS!!!!

  17. can we have some close ups of the lehenga?

if a bride did a two boob show like the model here in my city, there would be a lot of raised eyebrows for sure.
