In Sabyasachi

At the unveiling of the Swachh Bharat campaign video which she stars in, Kangana was seen in a sheer Sabyasachi sari. Hair in an bun complete with mogra, her look was finished out with a choker style necklace, a shimmery eye and a glossy maroon lips.

At first glance, the shimmery eye together with the glossy darker lip felt a bit odd. While it wasn’t a deal breaker, a lighter colored lip would’ve worked better.

      • She is light skinned, we get that; and yet somehow she looks like she was dusted with a lot of talcum powder or some really Cakey foundation in some unnatural color. Light skinned Indians do not have the same skin tone as Caucasians ; the former have golden and yellowish undertones to their skin and the latter have pinkish and reddish undertones to their skin; so it is important to use some foundation which takes this into account instead of generally picking the whitest shade of makeup available with non Indian brands

        • Bang on! I mentioned flour because because that is what it looks like. And completely agree, everyone can tell that she is fair than the usual brown desi skin but definitely not how the Caucasians, Persians or the far east Asian (Japanese) kind of light skin tones are. These ladies always try to not match the foundation closer to their skin tone and choose the ones which are much lighter.

          • Avani and CJdjd: If that were the case, her arms and neck would look very different from her face. Which is clearly not happening. So yeah, there’s no talcum or flour makeup going on here.

        • This is completely not true! Not all Indians have yellow undertones. I being one with fair complexion and pink undertones, can vouch for that.

        • Digressing slightly from the debate here, but Caucasians doesn’t include only white people. Indians are also grouped under Caucasian in racial classifications, having descended from around the Caucuses mountains and having similar skeletal structure. Just say white when you want to refer to white people, not “Caucasians”.

  1. It is nt frequent wn v gt to c Kangana in full traditional avatar..bindi, gajra n all..thou she luks beautiful bt seems as if she is dressed up 4 sum pooja or marriage..Isn’t dat too much for said campaign’s video? A simple kurta set or evn a jeans n t-shirt wud hv luked better!

  2. @Saira – LOL! Can’t get over the Tom Hiddleston comparison 🙂 . I find the look a bit garish and OTT for Swacch Bharat campaign. She looks lovely, but maybe for a traditional event!

  3. I don’t like the saree… technically this should work, but something about it is not working. Not that she looks bad but I think the color of the saree and the make up and washing her out.

  4. Love the saree but the sooil sport is the lip color and that necklace.. They both should’ve been given a miss , she could’ve worn jhumkis to complete the look!
