At The National Film Awards

Comment image 57

Wearing a self-designed black anarkali, Kangana accepted the National Awards for Best Supporting Actress in ‘Fashion’ last night in New Delhi. Until I find a better full-length pic, here is a first look but I have to add that between her and Priyanka (who wore a light colored sari) Kangana stole the show.

P.S. I spoke to her for a few seconds and her first reaction was “Oh, you are going to write about this tomm.” But, of course, Kangana! 🙂

P.P.S. Just to clarify, I was surprised that Kangana was aware of our blog and that we’d be covering this too which we did. She was very gracious and may I repeat again, looked lovely in black.

  1. She does look gorgeous here and her anarkali is super-pretty! Since this is your job mostly, I have a friend’s muslim wedding to attend and I want to wear something cool and ethnic but I’m not the sari types… I want to buy something neat so i can wear it later on… What would you suggest? I like bright and happy colours, if that helps (I’m a boho and casual dresser mostly). Thanks, if you can! 🙂

    • I don’t think dressing for a muslim wedding is any different from dressing for a hindu one, anything goes pretty much, saris, shalwaar suits, lehngas ect. Maybe people would give you some odd looks if you turned up in some skimpy dress with your cleavage popping out, but I reckon they would at a hindu or christian wedding also!!

    • If u r going for a muslim wedding…dont wear anything revealing. Dont show up in casual wear, wear a party dress, suit or lehanga and since you want to re-wear the dress later buy something with at least little embrodery on it…hope this helps

  2. Nitty gritty aside she looks really good; this is her moment. 🙂 Congrats Kangana. This is way more appropriate for the National Awards than what I can’t believe Priyanka is wearing. (On the other hand, this IS Priyanka we’re talking about…) Also, I’m glad she won, especiallly considering that ‘actors’ like PC win. (I mean the effing NATIONAL Awards for Chrissake!)
Rant aside, I like her make up here as well. Very nice and fresh and toned down. Kangana always impresses one way or other, even if her clothing choices have not always been winners.

  3. i didnt like this post!
am not sure what u intend by it. She is a sweet girl. I have seen her in farah’s show. A very frank and open minded girl and naive too. Though not concventional tight lipped bollywood, she is very much a nice hearted and sweet girl. Being her usual sweet self, she showed interest in HHC, u neednt have mentioned it. Coz whichever harmless way u would have intended it to be, people are likely to be misinterpret it as over anxiety and wanna be there attitude- which really doesnt do justice to a person like her.

    • Let me clarify lavanya. I was surprised to hear that Kangana knew of us and especially thought of us in such a way that we are quick to post any event! (Which we do try and do as best we can). She was very gracious and looked lovely.

      • This is the third time you hv mentioned that she looked lovely….and thats the reason why i too feel that u are saying that just cos’ she knows about your blog & spoke nicely with you.

The fact remains that eventhough she looks really lovely in the second picture (i hardly recognised her)…her hair looks dried out & over processed, her makeup looks horrible in the first picture & her dress is so “inspired” by sabya.

        • Her dress isnt “inspired by” Sabya …its a common fashion in india these days…even in general cloth store you can find dresses in these color combos and similar design. I myself have bought a couple in similar colors and designs. Its common not copyrighted Sabyasachi

    • I cant believe she has copied one of Sabayaschis anarkalis from his ‘chand bibi’ collection he had shown a year ago. That collection was so well publisiced and all over the net for everyone to see.

This looks like a very cheap street side version of his beautiful design. i cant believe she can flaunt it saying the design is hers!!!!

  4. i’m sick of this net sleeve trend.. move on ppl!!!
anyway, atleast the lady chose something more appropriate compared to Ms. Chopra..

  5. not thrilled with the brightness of the colours on the dupatta (i prefer how they were a bit dulled down by the zari on the bodice of the kameez) but overall, kangana looks great – this is a very appropriate outfit for the national awards and she looks really pretty in it. yay for the self-designing – quite refreshing, really.

  6. oh wow! i don’t love the anarkali but it’s definitely event appropriate..and her hair and make-up looks lovely. Actually for a minute there I didn’t recognize her. I love her jhumkas!

  7. Nice, but she has done better. I guess the photos aren’t the best. Her make-up looks awful in the first one.

The best dressed was Arjun Rampal, period.

  8. Kangana is dressed so appropriately! But she needs to take it easy on her lips. She is just perfect as-is and needs nothing on her face or body!

  9. She looks absolutely lovely in her self designed outfit. The colors remind me of African dress which i love. Its almost as if she is pying homage to Haiti but i dont think thats it. Nevetheless, she looks gorgeous as always and I love her!! Well deserved award. She is the only actress who can act nowadays. I hope she wins more awards in the future.

  10. omg so kangana gets to see the real you, and we don’t? =O lol (kidding)

anyways, congrats guys. especially the whole LIFW debacle and now recognition by celebs- it’s great to see you guys come so far.

on a last note, she looks so pretty. the anarkali itself is ok, the red and green are a little jarring- but on the whole, she’s appropriately dressed and has one of the prettiest faces in bwood these days.

  11. She is looking very lovely and very occasion appropriate – PC should take a lesson from her. ( She’s a really good actress too. She should have gotten an award for “Fashion”).

  12. its secret that kangna’s a pretty girl/woman but this appearance of hers i am not liking it talk about match much she has orange rouge on to match the pop of orange on her dress lol go figure but anything is better than PC’S tacky bar dancer number. amen

  13. Love this woman..she can really put together an outfit..she’s not afraid to experiment and doesnt end up lookin like tart even when she wears daring outfits. PC being such a senior actress and ‘ex-model’ should take tips from her how to graciously accept the National Award.

  14. The anarkali looks a lot like the one just one post before this one i.e. worn by Vidya , designed by sabyasachi ! The colour pallette atleast.

Hair and make up are not the best. Blush is too strong.

    Overall, definitely event appropriate !!!

  15. P and P,
I am such a fan of your website! I recently met Kiran Rao at Sundance and she was dressed in her usual Boho style which is not my taste, but I love that she has her own signature look. I told her she needs to check out your website and even wrote your blog address down for her:)

    Keep up the good work!
