In Dior

Dior VP Kalyani Chawla was spotted at a brunch recently in a Resort 2009 green dress which she paired with a Dior oversized clutch.

Her being in Dior is no surprise but we are surprised to hear that designer Suneet Verma will be designing a line of bags for Judith Leiber with Bollywood as inspiration. Can’t wait to see his line and we really really hope he keeps it kitschy because we can’t think of any other way to present Bollywood!

  1. Is it necessary for her to dress in Dior every single time? Seriously, that’s a legitimate question..Payal I would love it if you could answer this. I know she’s VP and I think she should primarily wear Dior, but is it like…wrong if she doesn’t wear Dior? It just seems like she’s always head to toe Dior all the time and that just doesn’t seem very awesome to me lol.

  2. i like the contrast of the purple purse with the green dress..and it’s size indicates that she can actually put a thing or 2 in it unlike the other teensy weensie ones i’ve seen other folks carrying..

  3. Sharin,
As part of being the VP of marketing, she has to be dressed in Dior at all times. But, then its expected. Its like a person working at Motorola cannot buy an Apple Iphone. The same reasoning applies to her. She cannot be seen in anything but Dior when wearing western outfits.

  4. something tells me that if she is technically required to wear only dior for all her western outfits, then she probably has to return a lot of the stuff that she wears. lots of people in the fashion and magazine world do it.

  5. above all, I think it’s good buisness practice
…if your job was to sell Dior, why would you demonstrate that you buy from other designers…?
anyway, if I had unlimited access to Dior clothing, I would wear it IN MY SLEEP! πŸ˜€ I <3 the resort collection.

  6. am sure that the fact that the VP wears dior all the time is a ringing endorsement for the brand and is emantg to make fashionistas everywhere think that “if she loves it so much, there must be something really fantastic about it”

  8. Love the clutch pairing with the dress, but it seems like the dress is two shades lighter and a completely different material on the model. Other than that, she looks good…but I wonder: would that Dior only clause apply to just other major designers or even your regular old t-shirt and jeans?

  9. @ PeachBellini, It’s probably not a written contract but I’m sure it’s “strongly encouraged”. A friend of mine works at Guess for marketing and they basically want her to be in Guess items head to toe while she’s working even though there was no contract. Its probably the same thing with Kalyani.

i have friends who work at microsoft who use Macs and iphones

i sort of wonder too whether it is a contractual thing
    i think it’s a bit much

  11. Hmmm .. finally I get answers to some of my questions regarding her…
ditto @ PeachBellini .. is it a contractual restriction(?) for her to not wear anything but Dior??

“Dior VP Kalyani Chawla was spotted at a brunch recently in a Emilio Pucci Torre Print Jersey Dress” would be so weird for us.

It sounds like something I would go crazy with. Not being able to wear anything I want to would drive me nuts..

I really don’t like the dress.. The cut seems a bit amateurish.. imagine that!

  13. @U, i agree about the “amateur” cut. correct me if i’m wrong, but i took you to mean that you can find dresses of this style at stores like gap and old navy. there’s nothing sophisticated about it. but that’s also kind of what i like about the dress, it’s simplicity. granted that you don’t need it to be a dior.

  15. @PeachBellini. I probably meant to say that the cut looks like a mix between something clingy and carefree(There are creases and bumps all over the dress). It clings in the wrong places and is stiff in the others. It doesn’t look like a very comfortable material for some reason. I guess when it’s a brand like dior I want everything to look super fine and fitted perfectly (even if it’s a flowing loose top I want it to look like a well made, well structured loose top). I like simple dresses from other brands and I wouldn’t mind a bit of structural flaws with them but from dior I want perfection.
