In Nikhil Thampi

Kalki picked a Nikhil Thampi fusion sari and pants look, one that she wore with an Outhouse belt, cuff and dangling earrings. Not only did all the jewelry feel like an overkill, the outfit too wasn’t one we warmed up to. It seemed inspired by kuchipudi dancers who practice wearing short saris and churidaars, except we just weren’t sold on the pants here. The whole look felt jarring and disconnected.

  1. Looks like she is going to break into a Bollywood dance number any second!! Just bad dress n bad styling.. There are so many Nikhil Thampi gowns and she chose to wear this!!

  2. I think without the pants I would have liked it more… short sarees are pretty common outside dance classes but in the heartlands of India – be it farming women or certains tribes.. and I am sure even more places which I am just unaware of.
I would love to see this get trendy!

  3. hmmm. i somehow like this dress, I would love to see more poeple wearing the short version! I have seen women in rural maharastra wear the short saris ( a different drape) while working on the farms..
