In Twos
Kajol is in New York attending a series of events at the United Nations for the ‘Help A Child Reach 5’ campaign. The actor who is brand ambassador for Lifebuoy will help promote hand washing to reduce child mortality.
While one appearance saw her in a Prabal Gurung, the other was in a black Sabyasachi. While we hunt for full-lengths, here’s your glimpse of her from the two events. Doesn’t she look great in the Sabya?

Did she just walk out of guzaarish??
exactly what i thought
…that or inspired by rekha from “kaisi paheli…”
Anyways, neither one is working for her…
hahahahaha. man, you took the words out my mouth!
She is way too overdressed for the UN.
+1
The sari is ok but that flower looks ridiculous!!! For the UN is much prefer her other look.
Saree is ok? it is best suited for cemeteries.
Like her better in the Ranna Gill…..the Sabya look’s too theatrical for me.
The first one is the Black Wool Crepe Sheath with Metallic and Neon Tweed Inserts from Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2013 Collection. Sarah Jessica Parker wore that dress when she appeared in Glee.
Oh she looks wow in the prabal gurung!! Wish for a full length!
Hey just remembered, it’s the same look Jennifer Lawrence wore for the AFI awards.
That rose is ridiculous. She’s at the UN, for Chrissake, not on the beach or at a flamenco party. Completely inappropriate. Like Amber says, I wish she’d worn the Prabal Gurung instead of that lace saree.
Its the Lifebuoy colour:-) Seriously tacky.
sigh cant these folk do anything without being associated with a brand. Like first being part of a campaign for ensuring running water….
Like talking at Columbia or the UN is going to make kids in Dharavi wash their hands more often.
I wish they would take the example of Matt Damon who actually walks his talk, no “sponsors” needed. He’s his own ambassador, and he gets stuff done, period.
the rose with the sari looks plain dumb to be honest and the ranna gill outfit looks amazing on the model but very underwhelming on kajol.
The look in black is Tactastic!! Makes her look like the 60s filmy mummys. The Rana Gill look is so fresh!
OMG.. Love the Prabal dress. so pretty! Sabya saree is what we have seen number of times in the past, nothing new
How to dress up for UN summit on saving children?
black net sari-check
messy side bun-check
red rose on hair-check
I love the Prabal Gurung dress. It looks good with a belt on the model – wish Kajol had added one.
The look in the black sari is altogether too theatrical for an UN event.
to answer your question, no she doesn’t look great in the sabya.. far from it
+100
When she looked so good in Prabal Gurung, why did she have to wear such a saree with that silly rose??? So inappropriate for the event.
Love the P Gurung look.
The Prabal Gurung outfit is great! Pity about her (almost) unibrow! The uni is definitely out! The black outfit look is a mess.
The flower is totally unnecessary
I understand that it’s wonderful to see Indian celebs wearing ethnic wear at international events (think Nandita Das, Sharmila Tagore etc.) but I much prefer her in the Prabal Gurung. She looks fresh, clean and natural there. The black sari-red lip-red flower is so jarring and inappropriate.
I looked at her in P&G n thought Ms. Rai look n learn n then I saw Kajol in Sabaya n thought O don’t bother
Love the prabal look…nice dress
i disagree with u Payal. i think she looks better in Prabal gurung. the only good abt the sabya look makeup n nails..saree is okayish! may be too monotonous..! but yeah she does look lovely!!
Love the Prabul dress. She actually looks quite nice in the saree. It’s the hair and flower that kills it. Love those bangles. Ash would have rocked this look.
I disagree. She looks better in the Prabal Gurung look
I actually love her in both looks. And i think the flower is ok too.
This is ridiculous. Apart from the fact that this whole black net sari and flower in the hair look is tacky on its own, the fact that she wore it while giving a speech at the UN amazes me. I’m all for Indian celebs wearing Indian designers whenever they go abroad for an event, but it just reeks of insecurity when they call up their designers for an event that has actually nothing to do with how they look, but is more of what an impact their Bollywood name can make. If you see celebs like Angelina Jolie and others who do major work with the UN, they already know their place and role and don’t land up wearing a Versace gown to scream that I’m an actress. If she had worn a cotton sari and was normal, it would have looked so much more appropriate.
Kajol – Please look at Angelina Jolie….learn to dress for the event! This is a formal event. Why not dress as the event demands? Too filmy!
Sabyasachi is a brilliant designer but he has a very limited range. Stylists just go by his name. His clothes and accessories have its own place and purpose. One can not wear them to Cannes or UN.
Kajol is looking ridiculous in that black ensemble. looks like she will break into flamenco number in the middle of her speech. 🙂
