Engagement and Sangeet Style

Soon to be Mrs Narang, Isha went with a pink Anita Dongre suit for her engagement ceremony with Timmy opting for a pink kurta. For their official sangeet ceremony, Isha picked a Neeta Lulla lehenga outfit while Timmy went for a sleeveless (now, that’s a first!) zip-up Nehru jacket with black pants. What I couldn’t figure out (apart from Timmy’s outfit) was Isha’s long choli with those cut-out sleeve extensions. Quite unnecessary.

Congrats to the couple.

  1. Isha is gorgeous. The engagement clothes though a bit loud (particularly Timmy’s Kurta)for my taste is nice. Not liking the long choli for the sangeet.

  2. Both look fab in the first pic, particularly Isha. Timmy should have worn something contrasting and less flashy, but he looks good, so i won’t crib.

I’ll pretend like you didn’t post the second pic.

  3. Ahem. Sleeveless shirt -‘ that’s a first’ , is putting it very very mildly. Its a beautiful ceremony so I’m gonna shut it.
I love the blues, greens & golds in Isha’s outfit but can it still be called a choli given the length ? May be its a kurta -lehenga !

    • I remember seeing such type of lehenga’s during the 90s in a lot of weddings…lot of my cousins back then used to wear such ones to weddings… love the peacock colors on this one…

  4. Wonder is there a theme too in both these functions? Like “peppy pink” for the above and “whose dress is weird-er ” for the bottom one? They look good as a couple though.. Cute!

  5. I wonder if she intentionally chose to have him dress like this (borderline clownish in some instances) to make her look a lot better. Not that her clothes appeal to me or anything—they are so LOUD and not what I would expect from a high profile wedding at all (her sangeet one is almost ok). His black sleeveless thing is the biggest groom attire disaster I’ve seen in a long long time. Embarrassing.

  6. Timmy looks like a bouncer in the sangeet photo. Or does he look like a genie waiting for his master’s command. Can’t decide. You choose!

Isha’s makeup is awesome in the sangeet photo.

    • Hee hee hee !!!

      My feelings exactly !

I think it went like this :

In the first picture, he is wearing the kurta which the designer sent for the bride… In the next one he only got the under garment for the bride’s top so, the bride called the designer and asked them to send her another top and the designer sent her a top from her 80s collections… While all this confusion was going on, the pandit called the Bride and Groom to come out because of Muhurat Ka Time ….

  7. Wow, she sure decked up! Isha didn’t do too bad, either.
    *snicker*

Love what Isha’s wearing in the first picture. She really lost it with that kurta on lehenga disaster though – it’s almost as if she liked the top of one ensemble, and the bottom of another and thought, ‘Oh, what the heck – maybe it’ll become the next big look!’ Girlfriend? Fail.

Timmy’s looks make me want to claw my own eyes out.

  8. First Picture – I wish Timmy wore a black kurta to let Isha’s pink really stand out — who looks absolutely stunning btw. I love that her outfit or makeup aren’t blingy.

Second picture – What were they both thinking? The dark makeup almost makes Isha look really tired. Timmy I won’t even bother trying to understand.

  9. Isha looks gorgeous.Such an underrated beauty . Sleeveless shirt for wedding is weird.Black is a classic colour but not really an indian wedding colour.

  11. I chose to overlook his “Ken” costume but timmy definitely has a strange dress sense. He looks like a waiter who has forgotten the shirt under his vest. Anyway its his big day so lets assume he was sticking to a tradition or a theme. Isha looks lovely.

  12. I like them in the engagement ceremony. If Isha’s outfit had some beige/cream in it, that would make the pair look better. Timmy is carrying off the pink of his kurta very well!

  13. She is such a pretty girl. I think that pink compliments her wonderfully. I’m going to disregard his jacket at the sangeet. As for the long ‘choli’ it doesn’t strike me as odd? I don’t know why, cause it should. I think you see those a lot in Pakistani fashion, but never THAT long. Even the cutout sleeves seem really Paki to me. Color combo is lovely.

  14. Isha’s cutout sleeve thingy looks soo much like what Neeta Lulla did for Rakhi Sawant , her swaymvar outfit that is..not a great fan of the lehenga look, but like the pink on her.

  15. For the engagement ceremony Eisha is wearing a KHADA Dupatta mostly worn by ladies in Hyderabad – I have one too :-P, the second picture Eisha is wearing a Lachcha, a lehenga with long choli..this was also a rage in Hyderabad 9 years back…remember wearing it as a teenager.

    • Holler, fellow Hyderabadi! Maybe that’s why the lehenga didn’t strike me as odd since I’m desensitized to it but if it’s a fad from a decade ago I should be grossed out.

  16. Timmay!! What in the name of…..Seriously, the brother may be less cute, but I can never imagine him wearing these disastrous outfits.

Isha’s second outfit looks either like
    a) a gharara or sharara (one with poufy culottes, another with a poufy lehenga, forget which is which). Although usually in those ensembles, the kurta is kept shorter.
    b) or a long kurti-ghaghra ensemble worn in parts of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana.

Isha baffles me – she usually looks spectacular in her candid real life shots, but somehow that charisma never gets translated on screen.

  17. Timmy’s outfit ( sleeveless) was in keeping with his entry on his sangeet performance ( as a boxer to “Bachna Ae Haseeno) complete with boxing gloves

    that’s why!!!
