From Cover To Real Life

Once you’d seen Priyanka work the strapless Stella McCartney gown on the Filmfare cover (especially with the studded gloves), it was going to be hard to like the gown on someone else.

But, you’ve got to give Avantika credit for making it work too by pairing the gown with a Dior necklace and gold slingbacks. For the awards event, it was a good restrained look.

P.S. Thank Harshita_R and Ena for the tip-off.

  1. Props for trying an unusual style and lovely make-up too. But, this woman has to be crazy to be as wide-bottomed as she is and wear something with exaggerated hips.

In the real world, she has a perfectly regular body, but sadly most designers don’t make clothes for regular bodies.

  2. This is one of Avantika’s better outfits, but she still hasn’t learned how to dress her frame. The detailing at the hips makes her look wider than she is, and the high slit is not flattering with the slingbacks.

However, the worst aspect of this look is the cumbersome necklace, which adds unnecessary bulk. Eliminating the necklace would have vastly improved the outfit.

It’s unfortunate that Avantika hasn’t quite figured out what flatters her shape, especially since she has access to beautiful clothing and great stylists. Most women aren’t so lucky.

  3. Umm this is more like what it should look like and what it shouldn’t look like. Why would you put someone with a frame like PC next to Avantika and then claim both can pull off a dress like this. Far from the truth.

  4. I think it neither works on Priyanka nor Avantika. Extremely average looking cover 🙁 Priyanka looks so meh and Avantika looks like huge with that cut. Such pretty ladies and such horrible clothes/styling. Sad.

  5. I always see comments about Avantika needing to dress for her body type – i.e. hide her hips and enhance her waist etc…so give her more of an hour glass

what if she is truly proud of her body shape and she wants to celebrate who she is? it’s unfortunate that there is just one shape that is a ‘perfect’ one and with all the rest you must hide some part of your body

I used to be in the same boat earlier but now i say kudos for not caring about fashion rules of ‘how to dress your body’. I reckon she looks beautiful here, hips and all. And obviously her hubby loves her for it!

    • Thank you for saying this. I was thinking about the same thing but you said it much better than I could. I find it annoying that whenever we see Avantika’s pictures here, there are comments about how she needs to hide her hips and boobs. I don’t even think it is about the hourglass shape. As a woman with a big bust and wide hips she has a more hourglass shape than Priyanka. I find it disturbing how often the comments on fashion websites equate good body with thinness.
