Bag Spotting
We love the all white of Ms. Khar’s outfit with those black accessories; looks great!
Turns out, Hina has quite the thing for bags… In the past, we’ve seen her with LV, Prada and Ferragamo. The journey to her first Birkin has been a colorful one! π
P.S: Look at us all bond over fashion… Now everyone else just needs to get with the program! :p

The first look is like a Calvin Klein campaign shot – clean lines, beautiful tailoring, simple cut and the white and black color scheme. Just beautiful. If I wore something like that I would look like I was on my way to a funeral straight from a business meeting. π
Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachman could learn a thing or two from her and Nirupama Rao about women who manage to retain a sense of style and still look dignified and professional.
Ditto ..
She’s an attractive woman carrying expensive bags and wearing stylish shades. I don’t see what the hoo hah is about her clothing though. Also beg to disagree on the reference to Sarah Palin & Nirupama Rao’s style. These 2 live in/represent countries where the media and public scrutinize ostentatious displays of wealth by politicians, & this quickly turns into a political card. e.g: the fallout from Palin’s VP campaign. If such dialogue didn’t exist, we’d probably see the khadi wearing, Swiss bank account holding, Congress party leaders trotting about in Louis Vuitton and Ferragamo. Or maybe they already do, but are just not attractive enough to be photographed and dissected like Ms. Khar.
The issue here is clothes and style,no one wants to know how holds a Swiss bank account and what party someone belongs to π it will be nice if restraint is adequately used while making such comments.. Sara Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Hillary Clinton, all have a nice sense of style and that is all we need to talk about here.. And before you jump to conclusion, I have no political affiliations …
I realize that this is a fashion blog, but the sartorial stopped being superficial a while back. WRT Khar’s pics, I don’t see style -just expensive bags paired with hit or miss salwars. The 3 outfits on the bottom half are pretty run of the mill.
Fashion, politics and power are closely intertwined. If you care to find out more, google it. Or think of Gandhi and the khadi movement, the Palestinian keffiyeh as a symbol..etc.
Yes, Palin, Bachmann and Rao are stylish, but are constrained by how much they can spend on their wardrobe. And I was responding to RVC’s comment re: their style.
I agree with you about the different countries. If an American politician was photographed with all of the designer gear she’s wearing, she would be ripped apart for ostentatious indulgence/excess.
And about the ‘hoo hah about her clothing’ – I believe the appeal is that there is no hoo hah. It’s the Kate Middleton effect, isn’t it? Kate isn’t groundbreakingly fashionable and most of us dress like her in simple, pretty clothes but it’s just so refreshing in this day and age to see someone embrace looking pretty, well-groomed and polished as opposed to constantly trying to provoke by subscribing to the Lady Gaga school of style. (I know the comparison with Gaga is silly considering how different their professions are, but I’m sure you get my point.)
There are certain items, where higher price equals quality and some can be almost like heirlooms. But then there is a line where such things scream status symbol more than fashion and its perhaps not most suitable on politicians as it looks like “ostentatious displays of wealth”.
Well i guess the high profile job must pay damn well. And she has every right to enjoy it. Regardless of her choice of bags and classes, she does have class.
Mrs Khar has family wealth , she does not get paid ridiculously in politics..
Completely agrre with you. Even Samantha Cameron was pilloried for carried Smythson accessories. It’s only here that we turn a blind eye to the glaring ostentation of a third world politician carrying a handbag/ shades worth lakhs, no matter how landed or rich her family may be.
+1
true but you don’t think michelle bachman looks professional? i’m not a fan at all(out and out liberal here) but i think she always looks her part.
Just one word puts it together for her.. CLASS!
Chic, chic, chic!!!
She looks fantastic. Love the white and black combo and the navy blue that you showcased yesterday. Elegance personified. Love it.
wow, Pakistani politicians are so chic!
p.s. love the fact that you’re including figures other than celebs in your blog!
Leagues ahead of most others posted on here – love love love.
aaww… doesn’t she know her basics right?!! CLASS
love her appearnce in white!! absolutely classy! I am curious about the kind of fabric she is wearing…….looks like satin, but then satin does not tailor so well!!anyone, any ideas?
I’m pretty sure that’s silk.Like a raw silk maybe?
She looks soo good !!!!
looks like cotton raw silk mix…
Applaud to her tailor…
its 80 gram rawsilk (Chinese ) its used here quite often pakistan has one of da best fabric
LOL @80 gm raw silk (chinese)….they were considered the cheapest when popular in India back in late 80s.
A birkin and chinese Silk….Nahhhhhhhhhhhh
Full sleeved, full neck, head draped – Yet so fashionable. Hmm Fashion is not all about exposing!!
Now someone please tell him how the Chiffon dupatta stays in place on the head. Mine doesn’t π
The trick is to use a heavier chiffon material that will be less flouncy and will sit better. Different varieties in chiffon have different weight in grams. You could also pin it subtly.
agree.. my husband has been going on an on in the past 2 days about how no skin show is required for someone to come across as fashionable and chic
Pakistani fashion has very different ethos. The silhouettes, cuts and embellishments are very different from what you would find in India. If only we had more permeable borders, and softer hearts in our respective capitals, fashion could be an even bigger unifying factor. Fingers crossed!
could not agree more. i believe the way the fabric is cut is where the difference lies- i have tried to have pakistani kameezes copied in india from the best boutiques, the results are rather disappointing.
Mine too!
according to my indian friends Pakistani tailors have turned the shalwar kameez into an art form experimenting and improvising endlessly. In India most people who are into ethnic prefer the sari while the young brigade prefer their jeans hence shalwar kameez hasn’t been played around with that much.
sooo classy! π
she is very elegant, LOVE the shoes.
She has her basics right…perfect blend of traditional and modern without being tacky.
She won me over with her monochrome outfits.. the white and the blue both. The print is not bad too. It is nice to her see online on a fashion blog and I like that she is young and has a career, wears her dupatta over her head for obvious reasons and doesn’t let her job stop her from loving bags.
Luv all her outfits…especially the last one…so simple yet so elegant and looks so graceful.
WOw if you u wanna know what elegance is ask this lady π
She looks fabulous! More power to her! Like someone mentioned, Pakistani clothes are a bit different – the cut, embellishments etc versus Indian clothes, same idea, but just a bit different. May fashion unite our two lovely countries!
can’t imagine of our politicians being able to carry off those heels. Love!!
i love the shoes that she’s wearing with her white outfit
Love love love the white and black ensemble!
I wish women would wear more such formal outfits to work. It just looks so much more professional. Women rarely wear neat cotton or handloom sarees, so we need to design something with neat lines and elegant colours/prints that are practical as well.
Really? What are you guys talking about? Where do you see the more than usual chicness?
Yes she looks chic, but take away the blown-out hair, the birkins and ferragamos and you will have regular old sub-continental look which every other woman sports. The look is typical gharelu that you guys are always teasing other starlets about!
True True True….
But with all the accessories some still manage to look tacky so she earns a point!
Its not gharelu to wear a shalwar kameez. The lady is educated, well dressed, has a great career and isseriously powerful – noway is she potraying gharelu here be it her attire or demeanor.
Agree.
Although I absolutely loved the look in white and the one in blue, at the airport, the remaining looks are nothing to write home about. (gharelu like you said, even wat some ppl call “dehati”)
But definitely worth “bag spotting”!!!
She is my boyfriend’s latest crush..! I must say, nice choice huni..;)
I haven’t really heard of her till today, but she looks amazing in the first picture. Innately graceful. love it.
this woman has nailed it! every single time! such class………….and such bags…! *sigh*
Though their outfits may be completely different, she reminds me of Duchess Kate. The same ethos. Elegance and beauty with simple styles and minimal skin show.
nice to see a pakistani on HHC, today’s women in(and outside) Pakistan do love to wear shalwar kameez n dupatta which are tailored nicely, have simple and clean cuts and prefer to add heels to them (including my mom)
looks pretty ordinary in her salwar kameezes though she seems to have plenty of cash to blow on accessories. ostentatious+brand name=/=elegance+beauty for the commenters above if you have to talk about ‘class’ –you know what they say!l
Wow, so gorgeous
I don’t know why people feel that you need to take away her bags and her show of wealth yaada yaada.
the point is that plenty of people, starting with Ms Q Dhody have money and no taste. Here is a woman covered from head to toe, looking classy. they all have the same money and opportunities at their disposal and look at what they make of it. Isn’t that what fashion is all about?
Totally agree.
gorgeous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah..she is gorgeous!!!
I don’t find her gorgeous or something.. but yes the white thing that she is wearing.. makes her look very classy,,, nd yea… those bags add to her style Quotient ….
