Aw, the mother of the bride! Hema Malini went the traditional route at the wedding and while we can hazard a guess, we’ll still ask… You like?

  2. HATE THE NEW AD PLACEMENT. I absolutely hate that I need to keep clicking on these ads to close them before I get a chance to see the whole picture. Can you please switch to the old-below the pic-location. It is actually frustrating that a major part of the picture is blocked. Rather than add anticipation, it kills interest.

  3. Like everything about it other than the golden belt…I know they are usually worn at south Indian weddings but for me they just kill the beauty of a sari.

  4. beautiful lady but the gold belt is digging so hard in her flesh it hurts to look at is that still a muffin top or is it an idli top

  5. I’ll probably get flack for this, but I hate. From the saree (border and body not contrasting enough, so the saree just does not shine; also not a fan of the self design pattern here) to the jewelry (tacky and excessive) to the blouse (tacktastic), I hated this whole outfit. Yet, Ms. Malini shines. But, a huge opportunity lost, in my opinion.

    • Completely agree! As kanjivaram’s go, this isn’t a particularly nice one. And the “designer” blouse quite ruins it. That said, I think she works this look way, way better than her Sangeet and Mehendi looks.

  6. she looks regal n classy.. love it.. although like someone pointed out, the ottiyanam doesnt fit perhaps since older women dont usually wear them. Maybe its a matter of just getting used to.

  7. She looks OK. If she wanted to go the traditional route, why not go all the way and complete the look with a matching blouse, instead of a green one?

Why is her Vanki so low on her arm? Typically, it should rest above or at the border of the blouse.

I think that the oddiyanam design doesnt suit her body – she could have gone with a chain-like one, which will flex and expand. Or atleast should have opted for a waist band that goes all the way around her waist with same thickness/breadth of the band. The 12″ piece makes her waist look wide.

  8. Wow, such an elegant lady. Looking so classy and love the way she is dressed up aptly for her daughter’s wedding. The gold belt looks too good on her. Cheers for no bling on the sari. Truly, she is looking divine in that Kanjeevarams and temple jewelry.

  9. I am sorry, the whole thing looks tacky and not age appropriate. Dont like the sari, the sleeve length, or the two layers of necklaces. She should have worn studs not hangings. She is dressed like a 20-year old.

  10. Love temple jewellery on silk sarees – diamonds just don’t go with these type of sarees. Although i think she could have skipped the mis match blouse and the belt which looks great on younger girls not so much at this age. However she is dressing like a south indian bride in this get up i still prefer it to her previous appearances. That long gold neckpiece would have looked stunning just on its own.

  11. blouse would have been a lot better without the zari border. Her golden belt looks like it is digging into her skin. Again mismatched jewellery here too, diamond ear rings and necklace combined with pure gold heavy jewellery. A more simple diamond only look would have enhanced the look even more. Love the sari.

  12. She looks Devine! But some things are better left for younger ladies / girls… Like the gold belt… A mangalsutra and one necklace should have been good…

  13. i don’t care for it at all despite my love for kanjeevarams and temple jewellery…there are a lot more beautiful kanjeevarams around and this one for me personally looks too modern and i hate odiyanams…she cold have gone with one piece of jewellery, sometimes less is more…
