Old School Cool

Am sure am in dismal minority, but I do like Ms. Jethmalani’s look from a recent event. There’s something so old-school/retro about it and certainly unexpected.

  1. I can see what you like about this look, but I feel like the makeup and hair kind of make it a bit cheap looking.

Also, she looks kind of tired, also, the facial hair is kind of jarring.

  2. I actually agree with you. I’m all for the retro look. I think it could have been executed a lot better, and I can’t say that I like the actual result, but I sure as hell like the idea.
The one thing I REALLY don’t like is that you can see the WHITE tie in her hair. Surely, she could have done something with bobby pins. I mean, I only wear my hair up with only a tie to the gym. Otherwise it’s usually a french twist, but sometimes a chignon.

    • I love the idea of the red flowers in the hair. It reminds me of Aishwarya in a scene in Devdas. That movie was filled with such pretty things, I can’t believe that that was the same Neeta Lulla… anyway.
BUT ARE THOSE EVEN FLOWERS? They look sort of like a ribbon. Like one of those bows you put on wrapped presents.

    • Tutorial please!

I’ve always wanted to have my hair in a french twist, but the problem is that i would want to be able to fix my hair without having to run to the ladies room each time. unless the style keeps itself securely throughout the day? otherwise i’m stuck with the hair ties :-/

      • It stays put!
Haha, and if it does with my hair it sure at hell will with anyone else’s. My hair is straight/wavy and will fall out of anything. You have to tease it a bit to keep give it something to hold on to 🙂
I actually learned how to do it from an online tutorial (my mom is useless when it comes to anything remotely girly) so google will be your friend 🙂

  4. Yes, so early 90’s but I love this look on her too. Almost a breath of fresh air from the anarkalis etc… The outfit looks so elegant, feminine and understated – almost regal – is this style set for a come back? Are we finally tiring of anarkalis and trapeze style kurtas, Sabyasaachi’s multicoloured brocade, velvets and patchwork and Manish Malhotra’s bollywood bling?

  5. Is that a lehnga shes wearing, I may be wrong but I don’t really think a lehnga looks right on ladys past a certain age. Still I love Haseenas style and she looks gorgeous, simplicity itself – she sure is one stylish lady!

  6. i like this look… only wishing she’d draped the dupatta a bit neatly… this is so casually thrown on and looks different in every pic… almost like my dupatta when i am having a busy day at office and annoyed at it!
