  1. now riddhima can take a cue from neetu in keeping the chamak dhamak out…neetu’s outfit may not scream fashion au courant, but it is tasteful, dressy, and suits her totally. Her accessories are well coordinated,at least whatever is shown..make up is just right as well..

  2. me got a question…do ppl here think Riddhima looks fat? how come when Aishwarya rai wore that pink dress ( the one that has a thousand color versions of it by gauri and nainika I think?) did ppl criticize her FAT arms? hmm…how come no one commented on how Riddhima kapoor shud lose weight? isn’t she almost as public a celebrity as Ash is? I ask this coz I am a bit on the overweight side a la Riddhima (not to forget, w/ darker skin tone and underarms, typically Indian) and am not so confident of wearing sleeveless tops…so want an opinion…

  3. The outfit Neetu Kapoor is wearing is an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosala. A similar kind of outfit was worn by Nita Ambani in Maroon color at an event giving an award….. Sorry i forget which event

  4. Lovely! Neetu looks much better than her daughter at the age of 50. I love her simple yet elegant dress, accessories, make-up.
But the way she has worn that dupatta, the work on her dress is getting covered by the dupatta. Is that considered a fashion crime?

  5. i agree with bsimple. riddhima does look fat here. i like her bag and i think she’s a pretty girl but she’s got a bit of a belly and untoned arms.

  6. bsimple, you are so right, people beat up on Ash while they are easy on all others. Ash can never win, as long as people won’t let her. First, when she was younger, people tried hard to find a flaw in her. Then they found it, and called it “too-much-perfection.” now they won’t let her go through the next phase without reminding all and sundry how she has lost her shape and is ageing! I think Ash is graceful, and will always have something extra over all others. The newbies don’t have that and you end to miss it.

  7. You know what… Riddhima is not fat. In no way shape or form is she fat. I understand people on this site are fashion conscious and what not but she is a perfectly healthy weight. Lets move away from using terms such as fat.. yes she is not toned but once again..she is NOT fat nor would I consider that she just “looks” fat in this outfit. She could look slimmer in something else but she’s not fat lol. K moving on, I don’t like her top..I think it’s a little too short. I think she’s really pretty though her skin is fab.

  8. Riddhima is a stunning girl in real life, but very gori chatti punjabi kudi kind of way…..very pretty pretty. Mom looks way better tho’ more relaxed and classy.

  9. Riddhima Kapoor is healthy, you can’t call her fat, she just needs to tone up a little. Although, she does look older for her age.

As for Neetu Singh, she’s dressed age appropriate; is well turned out.

  10. I think she’s a really pretty girl – I don’t think she is fat and she has the european/westernised features that some of our most popular actresses aspire to have – this girl has them as a result of genetics and not the surgeons scalpel or tons of slap or photoshop.

  12. Why shd Riddima and Ash be compared? One is a designer, the other’s an actress. After all, we’re never going to be subjected to Riddhima spilling out of a tight ghagra and looking flabby while dancing!!! And anyway, neither Ash nor Riddhima can be called ‘fat’. At the most, these 2 ladies need to get toned. You want fat, look at Priya Tanna- Vogue’s fashion editor.

  13. You cannot compare Riddhima with Aishwarya. Though the former is from the premier film family of India, she has no other reason to be in the spotlight. Ash, on the other hand, is an ex beauty queen and one of the most beautiful women in showbiz. One does not have to dress well or trendy, the other has an obligation (since she is still a part of Bollywood) until she retires.

Also Riddhima is not fat from any angle. She may not be toned but she is certainly not fat. She’s freaking gorgeous!

One last rant. Can we get over Aish already? It’s time we concentrated on the younger lot like Sonam, Deepika et all.

  14. isn’t riddhima’s top more appropriate for clubbing rather than a function? i’ve seen her dress better. i don’t mean to start an ash vs riddhima debate but at least ash got where she is by sheer hard work as opposed to just being the daughter and wife of someone who is very rich and well connected. riddhima is only designing so she has something to talk about at delhi dinner parties.

  15. Nadia, it is not a debate, someone brought up the microscope factor on Aish, and it seemed to resonate with me. If you went by the “obligation” factor, we know that Aish has always been flogged for being too perfect, and now with Father Time, she is expected to look like her old self. The point was that we need to appreciate her for who she is…as Mia succinctly puts it, she got where she is now through sheer dint of hardwork. The indolent zeta jones is Welsh national treasure. While Ash has her fans in droves, she also has put-downs galore. And yes, when the newbies have something more to offer, we can stop talking Aishwarya. Too bad for some folks she still has that effect of popping up whenever someone else is being discussed.

  16. Riddhima is stunning and has healthy weight norms – what do u guys want? a size zero a la Kareena? looking like a starved person? then everyone comments how the young generation is turning reed thin. I am glad Riddhima has the guts to wear sleeveless and figure hugging jeans without bothering about how many pounds over size zero she is! way to go Riddhima – u go girl!

  17. Desibuff I understand the point you are trying to make. Ash is a successful woman more prone to criticism than others. While it’s true that she has gotten where she is because of her hard work one cannot also discard her connections. She has been smart to use her beauty wisely, i.e associate herself with the right guy at the right time in her career. But she is still, and probably will be forever, known more for her beauty than her talent. This means that she will always be criticized more for her public appearances than her performances.

I happen to think the younger girls like Katrina, Sonam, Deepika are a lot more hip and exciting. I guess I”m in the minority.

  18. nadia, out of the youngsters, deepika has potential, but there are so many who have the transference of the ash-fix. I read the same although I loved Deepika in OSO. Sonam, again, she is someone who you can grow to like. The aam janta has not lapped her up as yet. There is time. As for Katrina, I find her vapid and dull. In fact, she is the one who needs to hone her acting. I am sorry, but looking beyond Ash, we still have not found the one. Earlier we had Hema, Rekha, and Zeenat, and of course Jaya. Then we had Ash and Kajol and to a great degree, Rani.
Today we have to find that special someone. I kinda like Priyanka, but again, they have to be larger than life. Who is going to surprise us?

  19. I think she looks fine; all the people commenting about her being fat need to be careful as it contributes to women have bad body image issues which leads to anorexia.bulimia, etc. Sorry I sound so preachy but I don’t think it’s good to criticize anyone for being fat (especially people who are healthy)

  20. i think both look great – riddhima looks really fresh and glowy (good makeup job, too). and i don’t think she is looking fat – she used to be ultra skinny, esp. when she got married (neetu, too, actually) so it’s kind of nice to see that she is at a healthier weight.
