In Louis Vuitton

It’s not a dress we cared for (at all) to begin with but then if you do choose to wear it, at least have the will to see it through. A dress that could’ve been fun, edgy and irreverent ended up by being an unmitigated disaster on Genelia. The hair, the pink lips, those earrings, the shoes and even the inner black cami… nothing worked with the dress.

A major let-down.

  2. Gosh what are you talking about?? I absolutely LOVE this look. It’s so damn girly- fun. In fact I like it better with the black cami. Looks perfectly in sync with the dress. And those sandals…I want them now! Very far from a disaster, really.

  3. this dress would work with an edgy leather biker jacket and pretty black heels. definately not working with that cami (what is up with that??) and the shoes with that pink sticker on it (what IS that?) and how can you wear this to an awards show??

  4. Not at all comfortable that shows and I think being comfortable is most important thing to carry any look…
Secondly just designer wear is not key to make statement…
Lastly atleast try to match stuff properly…shoes complete disaster

  6. ‘not a dress that u cared for??’.. hmm..
Here its jus a case of bad styling, make up and occassion..
giv it to a Leighton Meester or Blake Lively and get it styled by a Patt Fields or Grace Coddington..
    Marc is God!!

  7. i think she looks fab…the dress is great and i like how she styled it (even the cami is fine cause it goes with the rest of the dress and doesnt look like it doesnt belong unless you see the runway picture)

genelia has so much fun with fashion and i think that needs to be appreciated
why is everyone so obsessed with rules being followed
she looks great – and this is one of my fave looks from the awards…just cuz it’s different, fun and well she’s young!

  8. I don’t like the dress. It’s an indian awards night and i don’t think they can handle that much cleavage on display (if not for a cami). Yeah, this look is not working. She was better off without these big name designers. But i still love her gorgeous smile and vibrance. 🙂

    • So cleavage in Indian movies is all right? That can be handled? And nobody is dressed particularly modestly (in Indian standards) for the night anyway.

      • @pettyfogger:But that’s how the industry works right? Movies, of course, there’s boobies on your face but off screen they do expect women to be modest. It’s sad but that’s a fact.

      • @Pf:whoa, talk about twisting words. I was not trying to be a cleavage police here. Besides a malaika or mallika sherawat, i don’t see any bwood ladies wear anything risque. On the the deep neck line sits well cos of her flat ches. When you look at Gen, you can see where the neck line cuts in.She would have to go bra-less or stickies which i doubt these celebrities would do. Moreover i have never seen Gen adorning such cleavage thrusting outfits even on camera(bwood or s.indian movies). I feel most desi ceebrities shy away from wearing such necklines without adding a cami…mostly, for getting judged by the media and the public or maybe some feel uncomfortable like Kajol…where she wore a black cami in one of her mag covers which ruined the outfit/dress.

  9. Unmitigated disaster? Really? And you think Urmila Matondkar looks good in her green blinged-out horror? Hmmm…to each his own I guess.
Genelia looks cute in spite of the shampoo-deprived hair and shoes. And that dress is actually one of the few LV designs I like.

  10. I don’t care for the dress that much but not b/c it’s an awful dress.more like the wrong occasion and the black cami needs to go. Her hair and makeup look great, and she looks beautiful overall

  11. She should not have worn the dress if she felt uncomfortable with the neckline…the dress looks like it is wearing her and not the other way around!! Low necklines are alluring….provided you are comfortable enough to wear them.

  12. And now I see why designers like size zero models. In the smaller frame the dress fits without having to make alterations but even the skinny genelia can’t do without additions.

I like the dress.. it’s cute without the black bits.. and I’m pretty sure that lipstick’s hideous close up but from afar it doesn’t look back.

  14. I think she should have got a tiny bit of material (in black or a different contrasting colour) stitched on to the dress to bring the neckline up a little. Have seen it done many times in a classy way, even on designer dresses. the pink on the shoes does not work but in any case her ankles are too thin for the ankle strap, so a different pair would have worked better. the hair isn’t great but without the cami and with different shoes, she would have looked great. i personally LOVE the dress and it looks great on her body.

  15. she definitely looks way better than the model and i think ppl who run her down as ‘too indian’ to carry it off, r simply biased in my opinion. she looks smart and comfy and thankfully, not trying to be hollywood material
