In Elie Saab Couture

Wearing an Elie Saab Couture dress, Freida attended the Kering and Cannes official dinner on Sunday evening at the film festival. Hair in a side-part updo, her look was finished out with Bvlgari earrings, a metallic clutch and sparkly minimalist sandals.

The dress with its floral applique was exquisite but I wasn’t completely sold on the finishing touches. The orange-tinged red lip clashed with the belt and accessories and the belt itself seemed too broad for the short dress.

  1. With a different neckline, this gown could have been very striking and classy, but this kind of makes Frieda look shorter and awkward.

  2. This is how fashion is presented…painlessly. Unlike some Bollywood celebrities who try so hard that the mere image of them are at most times painful, Frieda is one who wears fashion and not the other way round. She does it right and very effortlessly at that; I would not change a thing about this look. She looks gracious.

  3. I felt the belt could have been skipped and agree with you on the choice of that lippie. She looks nice in the dress. I wish she’d worn earrings with some colour–perhaps sapphires and tourmalines which Bvlgari is known for–and chosen a sparkly clutch with those similar colours.

  4. The full sleeves and high neckline look so awkward with the short length of the dress. And that pigeon-toed pose isn’t doing her any favors.

  5. The top and the bottom of the dress don’t belong together! With the high neck and long sleeves, the bottom should have been a knee or floor length sheath. And the current bottom half belongs to a sleeveless/strapless/short-sleeve summer dress.
Elie Saab or not, this is not a good frock! Freida’s make-up is really nice though 🙂

  6. Lol. Where is the neck? Looks so absurd on her and makes her look funny. Like her head was photoshopped into it. The work on the dress is so good.

  7. The heavy embellishment with the mock turtle neck, makes the whole silhouette look very top heavy…and like she’s being choked. Don’t mind the belt, and the lip colour, but hammered gold jewellery would have been better than the diamond ones. Also shoes should have been gold/ coral (to go with her lip colour), since the white is very warm. Silver does nothing here. Overall though I still think she looks good. Refreshing having someone not go down the gown route.

  8. not liking the belt…. it stands in contrast and not a pretty one… if she was going for orange lip rest should have been left silvery or creamy……. the grey belt is out of place.

  9. I absolutely adore this dress. They probably tried to keep the focus on it and therefore went with the minimal shoes but it didn’t work. Infact my eyes are constantly drawn to them because they don’t go with the dress.
