Hate ‘denims-with-sneakers’ look. Hate. If she was paying an homage to the ‘fitness’ aspect of the launch, she should have stuck with work-out clothes to go with her sneakers.

  1. sneakers with denims are ok as far is its the right pair of sneakers with the right pair of jeans.. the whole world wears sneakers and jeans… on rakshanda it looks wrong somehow..

There are many sneakers that work… like some of those from sketchers, puma or converse but those specific ones are meant to be worn with denims… proper workout sneakers are just not kosher.

  3. Priyanka, can you please throw some light on that? Which are the sneakers that can be worn with jeans?

Coz this is a very common universal look and Rakshanda looks fine here. I fail to understand what’s wrong with her look..

  4. I totally, completely and whole-hartedly agree with you.
I HATE WHEN PEOPLE WERE GYM SHOES WITH JEANS. I haven’t worn sneakers with jeans since I was like, 14 and I don’t plan to ever ever ever again. >:(
I don’t care if my mom complains that I never wear socks either (HA!…plus I have really small feet so it just looks wierd, even with Chucks)

  5. Of course sneakers work with denims, exactly like deewani said as long as it’s the right pair of sneakers with the right pair of jeans….

  6. If u have a gun to your head and HAVE to wear jeans with sneakers..then invest wisely in a bootcut. If not, die. Not to nicely tapered jeans with sneakers is sucidal.

  7. NO NO….Rakshas is a bud, she looks fine here, not her shining moment, but she has lost oodles of weight…..and that is enough to make any one feel over confident.

  8. i am fine with sneakers and jeans, actually.. personally i agree that heavy sneakers with jeans are not a fashion combo..but i think if its practical, go for it

  9. I whole heartedly agree with tipper..bootcut with sneakers is fine. Its very difficult to pull a look with tapered jeans, esp if one is on a heavier side. Tapered jeans and long leather boots look chic..

  10. This goes with the post of Katrina wearing the Sabyasachi. Didn’t know if it would be viewed as that post is old.

Saba- not sure where you are going but I just picked up a Sabyasachi in Bangalore at Evolutione for $600. It has a short sleeveless kurta with printed salwar and an amazing dupatta. I love it! They had lots of anarkali sabyasachi’s for around $1000. Hope that helps…….good luck!

  11. She looks like a teenager here – not a good thing. K Swiss makes good white shoes thats goes well with jeans. I haven’t worn jeans and sneakers since forever. In the winter its mostly boots and slip-ons. In summer – ah, the beautiful options =)

  12. Adit, if you dont want to comment on your buds, then dont.. they’ll never know what you think then.:-) why comment and then feel pressured to say they look fine.

  13. i don’t think Rakshanda looks bad here at all. she looks stylish pretty much all the time. plus, i love the jeans and sneakers look. i don’t understand what is so bad about it? it’s practical and comfortable. however, sneakers go best with boot-cut/flared jeans; not the slim-fit cigarette jeans she’s wearing here. nonetheless, it’s not a disaster at all.

  14. Adit, are you Karan Johar?
Not being sarcastic, he’s the only person in the industry I can think of who could be “buds” with so many celebs.

  15. crap…these r not even gym shoes…n the world wears their nikes with jeans…n if u think these r trainers then u r hutin yr knee n shin…there r no shockers…

  16. I agree with the majority…it does not look quite right. Flared jeans would have made the look better. And I don’t like the sneakers by themselves either.

  17. Dressed down jeans and trainers can look soo cool, I’m not American so over here we call em trainers not sneakers – however she is wearing actual work out (gym) trainers with tapered jeans and so the whole look kinda screams “off-duty mummy ji” or “I maybe your aging auntie but I still have it” – if she had worn some boy fit jeans (slouchy, fitted at the hips, wide cut) and some retro flat trainers then she would have oozed laid back cool.

It seems to me our desi sisters really don’t know how to do off duty cool – they are either horrendously matched to within an inch of their lives (fake barbie hair, vulgar designer bag/belt prominently displayed with matching shoes – “designer of course dahling”) or trying to dress effortlessly casual and still looking a bit too put together (“do you like my statement tee and hipster jeans and yes that is a louis vuitton bag”) .

  18. i think there’s a sneaker for all cuts of jeans (taper/slim/bootcut). if you’re going to wear a taper or slim cut, then something with a thinner sole would be good. white sneakers are permitted only when playing/exercising.

  19. sneakers/trainers with trousers or jeans is not my favourite look but for some of us ordinary folk who travel by tube in london and hence have to walk a lot, sometimes it’s necessary to wear them for comfort.

  20. Could you please have a seperate post for what type of jeans suit which body type (with specific reference to height, waist, hips and thigh issues) and also for each type of jeans please suggest a good brand (available in U.S.). Thanks.

  21. hhhmmm…as people before me have said, there are certain types of “sneakers”, “trainers”, “sports shoes” one can wear with jeans without looking bad. Like, Diesal, Dianna Ferrari etc etc to add on to the list posted somewhere above.

yes and the jean cut is wrong…actually i hate the Sneakers full stop. that kind should be kept just for the gym…actually i dont wear that kind at all…i would still wear the more “cooler” kind 😛

but im at uni, and i see this look all the time…and at uni i couldn’t give a crap. but this is a proper event you know? lol
