This is too much for a music album launch…
its for family weddings and sangeet and those stuff…
She looks good theoritically.. it wont work for me practically… too much soap’ish for me…. The only thing she is missing is that looonng Mangal Sutra that hits almost the belly button.

May be its the hair? with a different hair I think it’ll work the best for me for my cousine’s wedding

    I like the pink tho

I don’t know how I am saying this (or why I am saying this) but she kinda looks cute !!

I know ! it is kind of a behenjee (or Bahu of soaps) look but I likey !! Wish she had draped the saree more like a bahu …

only peeve!!?? Sorry, except for the face nothing works here.

Hahah, even soaps these days don’t have such dressing, maybe:P
But I like the sari, blouse is not too bad either (relatively speaking), but the jewelery, hair and especially the draping is VERY tacky, she reminds me very much of Deepika tho O_O

I think setting expectations low really works for her. even if she’s like this, we’re thankful that it’s not as bad as she can be!

she sipped on some froth of the daily soap.. lol

and WTHeyy what is that sandal with that T shape front. yikes. so outdated

SHe is soo pretty but such unfortunate choice in clothes.Any cotton salwar would suit the lady sooo well(except pink with tacky prints:)

to me her last appearance is much better than this ‘apsara avtaar’!

  10. Megha at | | Reply

wow she actually looks pretty good
i dont mind the hairstyle even

maybe its cuz she’s set the bar so low :)

To the writers of the blog, it astounds me that your only peeve is the ‘dated hairstyle’.
This entire look is pretty horrific..the saree looks cheap and not even in a bad ‘filmy’ way, the blouse even cheaper, and ofcourse the entire look is made even worse ( who would have thought that would be possible ) by the draping!

Though the color and glitzwork is a little garish, I still think she pulled it off quite well. It’s not easy to go bling and not look over the top. Like the peach/bright pink combination.

I must say this ‘small town girl’ looks quite cute this time! Except very soap opera-ish. But baby steps right :)

not everybody has to dress in foreign designers or any any designers. I really like this look mainly because this is what I consider indian Indian apsara look and it is a refreshing change to see people keeping the tradition alive.

I don’t know – acchi lag rahi hai (or any of the other languages – don’t mean to say the Hindi parts only) some parts of the country would say and quite a few men may find it a very attractive look. Its a desi chamak chalo look – fashion perhaps lies in the eye of the beholder. +sari falls nicely.

Its nice of you to span the spectrum and not stick to the bog standard look of some designer dress + It handbag + shoe fetishism.

    ladies…please learn how to wear a saree…

  17. KK at | | Reply

I think she looks cute. I don’t like the way the sari is draped because it doesn’t really cover the blouse. She loves pink and that’s because she looks good in it.

Seesh! all she needs is a ‘nagin’ head accessory to do the snake dance with. It could pass off as a good retro look, but it simply looks too forced.

i think she looks really good.. had it been for the wedding or reception party, it would have worked perfectly.. i dont understand y most of replies were negative ..!!

I can’t get over how beautiful this girl is :). And how hopelessly she dresses :(

  21. Karishma at | | Reply

Such a pretty girl, so much money and so little style!! It physically hurts me to see her in these clothes. Please hire a stylist Divya. PLEASE.

  22. Kiwi at | | Reply

She is actually looking nice-minus the snadals and the hairdo.

  23. melange at | | Reply

A proper drape and a different hairstyle would have redeemed this look greatly. But then, this is Divya Khosla we’re talking bout. comin from her, this is ok.

  24. akaa at | | Reply

Once again commenting what I write on almost all posts on her … She makes me DREAD pink!!! I always think twice now before wearing pink !!

  25. kismett at | | Reply

she’s soo stunning, shame about the not so good dress sense.
But if this was for wedding etc would have been more acceptable.

  26. siddharth at | | Reply

I think she looks cute.. and those who are saying that they have started to hate pink because of her.. well what looks good one person doesnt mean it will look good on others as well, you have to choose colors as per your body type and complexion.

  27. charan at | | Reply

But Payal, arent fashion standards same for everyone?? We always make it different for different people, why so??

  28. Meena at | | Reply

She’s such a beautiful girll.. with no dressing sense.. although this time she did fair better then most of her previous public appearances.

  29. chic chick at | | Reply

I think she looks really cute, albeit in a VERY tacky way. Her hair style is way off. I think she should have balanced the soap opera-sihness of that dress with an elegan hairdo. I dont see why every body is so against the drape. The sari is an item of clothing for god’s sake, OBVIOUSLY draping styles are going to change over time. I dont understand why we all insist on dressing the same way as our great great grandmothers .

haha, pnp, maybe you are watching too many soaps.

its all a bit jingly- straight out of hum apke hain kaun disasterish. too much color. the fuschia pink and orange is very lajpat nagar punju, and the draping, contact lenses and jewellery is a bit too delibrate. while she has a sweet face, this whole look is really quite abysmal. especially for a launch.

and yes, this blog is slightly prejudiced and ‘different rules for different people -ish’

@chic chick: I agree with you. For that matter even sleeveless blouses can be seen as too ‘tacky’. Well of course it’s a matter of opinion either way.

  33. Anita at | | Reply

she looks like a champa chameli or some such name..Tacky sense of dressing.

  34. fashionista at | | Reply

i agree chic chick, tacky but cute (i cant believe im saying this)

eeew.. the only good thing about this look would be that it is a costume. I immediately get flashbacks of Sridevi in the 90s.

  36. gauri at | | Reply

Gorgeous!!! I want this sari!!! Pink is gorgeous!!!! And soaps are AWESOME!!!!
Where can I buy this sari IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

  37. gauri at | | Reply
