In Frou Frou By Archana Rao
One of the very few to go the sari route, Dipannita’s Frou Frou sari provided quite a respite from the sea of gowns and dresses that we saw at Vogue Beauty Awards.
I only wish the shoulder drape was not so relaxed and the hair didn’t dominate the look.
Jewellery from Sapphire and a glittery Annika Rucci clutch finished out the look.

It’s a pretty saree, just ruined by the addition of a belt.
LOVE this look! Where would you wear a sari with a belt? To a vogue party ofcourse!!!!
THIS! The drape is the icing on the cake, it makes the whole look feel breezy & effortless. IDK why, It totally reminds me of Pernia Q, especially the hair, which is a compliment.
A complete mess. The sari itself is nice, but her draping ruins this entire look completely. This is how it should’ve been draped: https://www.highheelconfidential.com/shared/content/uploads/2014/05/samantha-prabhu-archana-rao-manam-photo-shoot.jpg
Agreed. But watch out, they might start calling you as Sam’s stylist! 😛
I know the traditionalists are not going to like this one bit but I think she looks pretty amazing. The shoulder drape as well as the broad open pleats give this look a very boho-modern twist.
I totally second that… the drape and the hair give a different twist to the look and a real good one!!!
I like the shoulder drape too
I liked Samantha’s too but each gives it a unique vibe
I’m tired of the constant sari traditionalists who pooh pooh at everything
Everything has a space and can be appreciated independently. I own kanjeevarams and more sexy net saris and love all of them. One doesn’t exclude the other
By the way the truly ‘traditional’ sari is one without a blouse no? How they started out 😉
Before that there was just a bandeau and a bottom dhoti type skirt, if I can recall from all those pics and sculptures from ancient times. It is no way related to the modern day “sari ” is.:P
This too! ITA with you. Fashion means reinventing & transforming classic looks in my book! 🙂
The hair & drape is a little messy …. cant tell about the make up… but this woman is elegant as hell…. and i feel with so many minuses she still manages to look great!
I suppose there is a bohemian vibe to this look but overall, it doesn’t work for me… Too many mismatched elements like the belt and the clutch etc.
I love this look!! So chic !! She carries it off so well. .
Looks like everyone got the memo: wear sideswept hair! It’s a pity that people are giving up on saris for such events. I thought Nayanthara lead the way in the revival of the sari for award functions. In this particular case, the sari is nothing spectacular and the drape is sloppy but Dipannita is making it work.
Too disheveled! Like she just got out of bed.
