Hellooo, look who just worked the derrière off of this cover; move over Malaika! :p Love the hot pink cover and the way the dress has been showcased, muy caliente! And before you scream bias, may we please point you to the cover… Again! 😉

  1. This cover could actually pass off as Vogue worthy. Did they have a change in their graphics dept? That Genelia cover was so so tacky.

  2. Not a fan. Come on – actress in sexy dress and long tresses in pose 6 from the Modelling For Dummies guidebook. A totally obvious, expected, unsurprising cover that could’ve come from any magazine. Where’s the Vogue factor? Where’s the interest, the twist, the other-wordliness? Seriously, sometimes I wonder if Vogue India has ANY creative art direction at all.

    • Vogue India is hardly at par with Vogue US, leave alone Paris or Italy. It’s the same boring Bollywood shtick and trite content – I mean, I’ve seen college mag covers better laid out than this. And the writing is laughable – ‘An easy way to amazing eyes’? The cover, barring DP, looks like it belongs on a Seventeen. I can not believe Priya Tanna is Emmanuelle Alt’s contemporary. Ugh.
That Burberry dress is fantastic though.

      • I dont understand the constant comparisons at all. I would understand comparing Vogue USA to Vogue France, Italy or Japan (or even Vogue Brazil which is young, fun and colorful) and complaining that it was not up to standards, but Vogue India?

Let’s face it- fashion in India involves a lot of pretension, pomposity , plagiarism, kitsch and garishness and very little actual creativity or style. You only have to compare the Filmfare red carper to that of the Oscars or even Chinese/ Japanese award shows to realize that there is no comparison at all. And Bollywood does have some of the tackiest onscreen costumes anywhere in the world.

Even the mainstream Indian media’s approach to fashion is extremely juvenile and crude mainly focusing on actresses “in skimpy bikini set to sizzle”. A lot of people in the country still have outdated moralistic attitudes towards fashion and complain about girls becoming westernized and spoilt etc

I don’t mean to be insulting, India is obviously a developing country that is only just discovering fashion, but I just want to point out that international comparisons are futile.

At this point I think it is just extremely impressive that India even has so many international fashion magazines: Vogue, Harper’s, Marie Claire etc. And given that they’ve working in a very new, fledgling fashion scene, I think its very impressive what they’re all doing. I’m sure we’re going to see some excellent content soon, given how fast things are evolving though.

        • See i find Elle is on it but there is no Mention of it there. Accept that Fashion still means not more then fun to India’s most of people and m sorry but even Vogue is sprdn it the wrong image just to get on top. We need something more informative something to educate people that fashion is a serious business. U kw Indian Fashion has come a long way after d independence and i totally appreciate it. But it doesn’t meen so much of repeatation which is boring and i feel fashion is anythn but not boring. These magazine’s should spread the real thing not just the bollywood. Fashion is Far far far diffrent.

      • I would not even compare Vogue US to Paris or Italy – come on, it’s one of the worst Vogues out there. When’s the last time you’ve seen a creative cover, without the face of some celebrity on it? India’s just following their footsteps – and why not? Celebrities sell. That’s what the common man will notice and buy. Why go a different direction if this is what’s paying the bills?

    • I totally agree. This cover is so Un-Vogue-ish ! I need to send a copy of the ‘ The September Issue ‘ to Vogue India to show them how much research and work goes into making a cover.

      • Anaita Shroff Adajania has to be one of the least creative stylists around. Show me one cover, one feature, one movie where she has taken a risk?
And their graphic design department simply sucks! That Genelia cover from December was plain tacky! I agree that some college mag covers are better. I am not a huge fan of the US edition of Vogue but this is not even on par with that!
feels good to vent like this…

        • ok she looks fabulous! and the cover is great! i can’t believe so many of u r so cynical about this! i mean….fashion originated in france and US has been fashion conscious since like forever!
vogue US started in 1892! vogue india was launched in 2007! just 4 years! a HUGE gap!
the team of vogue is doing brilliantly! they design the covers according to the indian audience! and lests be honest guys…..majority of this audience is not too fashion conscious! or into high fashion. they enjoy watching film stars! only a handful of people in india are genuinely into fashion!
even in bollywood no 1 except sonam kapoor truly gets fashion!
our fashion industry is still in the experiment phase and will take time to become concrete.
and if u all know so much about fashion then why don’t u all do something about it??
cut the guys some slack! they r all amazing and will become better with time!!

  3. What a rip off…. Take the US glamour mag cover with reese witherspoon, JAN 2011 and change the dress color and showcase the back… lo and behold you have the Vogue India cover… think fresh stylists!

  4. the butt and the back kinda looks photoshopped, other than yah lov the drss the feminine pink with frills add with black leathery flaps.. add edge to the dress

  5. The cover itself looks more ladmag than haute couture to me. But who cares when Deepika’s on there looking so ridiculously HOT?

Seriously, I think she’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. So. Damn. Jealous.

P.S.- I know the cover is heavily airburshed and those aren’t really Deepika’s curves- she’s worryingly thin with her ribs sticking out in the Dum Maaro Dum stills. But still, she’s such a pretty, pretty girl and so charismatic. I have a total girl-crush.

    • Try checking her Kingfisher calendar picture on a sea plane wit her body at an angle to the camera and you can see she always had a great butt. and this pic did not make it to the final calendar so no it was not photoshopped! 🙂

So yes they ARE Deepikas curves!

  6. Actually this may just not be that photoshopped…if you look at her pic from KJo’s Koffee w/ Karan in that red dress where she is standing next to KJo in her red gown…she rocked that backless gown then too 🙂 She has a seriously killer bod!

      • Look at the bit where her arm meets her back: it looks like the arm socket on a barbie. Plus, her jawline is unnaturally well-defined and her skin has been whitened. Definitely photoshopped.

Deeps has a killer bod, but no-one has curves this perfect.

  7. goodness gracious…didn’t know deepika could look this hot! Photoshop or no photoshop, the cover does want to make you pick up the magazine.

  8. Deepika is an amazing model. I love the dress, her pose, her face.

Someone said that the cover isn’t special. But look at Vogue USA covers, they’re pretty obvious too. Standard posing too, especially when there are actresses on the cover. It’s the editorials that are original.

  9. Not digging this cover . It suddenly took away the very essence of fashion . Think for a minute , just replace it by one of those men’s magazine titles it’ll easily pass off as one .

Yes I do appreciate that she has a body that million girls will kill to have ! Imagine Anna Wintour looking at this cover ? Would she give an approving nod or detesting pursing of the lips ?

  10. Theres no denying that she looks smoking hot but this is not a cover i would expect from Vogue! I agree that it could pass off for any other magazine. But who cares. She’s hot!
